U-12 (Typically 5th and 6th grade level) or 11 and 12 years old. A player cannot turn 13 before 12/31 of the year the season begins.
U-14 (Typically 7th and 8th grade level) or 13 and 14 years old. A player cannot turn 15 before 12/31 of the year the season begins.
Program Overview: Travel Basketball is an oportunity for players to participate in competitive basketball against girls of the same age, from the surrounding towns in our area. The focus of our program is to provide a higher level of instruction to foster strong fundamental basketball skills in a competitive atmosphere.
Travel is a commitment with an emphasis on participation in both practices and games. Practice is held approximately twice a week at one of the designated school gyms. Games are typically one to two times a week ,either at our home gym or away at one of the other participating team locations. Directions will be provided by the coaching staff of each team.
Tryouts: Typically held during late October or early November depending on availibility of the gym. It is strongly recommended that a player attend both tryout dates, so that the coaching staff has the opportunity to evaluate and select players for each team. Players will be selected and practice begun within one week, depending on gym availability.
Season: Runs from the 1st week of December through 1st or 2nd week of March, depending on the playoff schedule.
Uniforms: Provided by the Athletic Association. A mouthguard is required for U-10 only and is the responsibility of each player.
Playing Time: It is our intention to compete in every game we play. Our coaching staff has the experience and knowledge to utilize every player to best support that effort. We ask that parents be supportive at home and of our staff to know that we intend to do what is best for your daughter and the team she plays for.
The coaches provide instruction during practice, so that each player has the opportunity to succeed. Participation in practice is as important as games. Games are the opportunity for each player to showcase what they have learned. It is our intention to play everyone, but playing time is not guaranteed. Contrary to some programs, winning is not our primary goal. However, we intend to give each of our teams the opportunity to succeed and during the post season we PLAY TO WIN.
Fees: A travel participation fee is charged and is addition to the yearly SAA registration.
Highlites: A Parent/daughter basketball game is held at the end of each season to give the parents a chance to participate and to show our appreciation to both the parents and children for their effort throughout the season.
