Congratulations -- Two Teams Win 1st Place in the Fall 2008 Season!!
Congratulations go out to two of our SCYA Storm Soccer Teams. Both Ann Barkman's GU9 team and Russell Heller's BU12 team placed 1st in their Division. Way to go Storm!!
Congratulations should also go out to all of the SCYA Storm Soccer Teams for playing their best and having a great season!

12U Tournament Team Wins 1st Place
On Thursday, June 10, 2008, the 12U Tournament team won the 1st Annual Annapolis Thunder Baseball Tournament beating PAL in the first game 8 – 5 and Mt. Olive 8 – 2 in the final. In the final game, Ryan Wanner and Steven Hogan combined for a no-hitter striking out 8 batters to beat a team that did not lose a regular season game in their division. Over the two game tournament, the Storm batting average was .333 and had an excellent performance from David Harris who stole 6 bases over the two games. All in all, it was a great day for the Storm and a big step in the right direction.
The team consisted of Ryan Wanner, David Harris, Alec Conrad, T.J. Gleeson, Steven Hogan, Ryan Jackson, Jeffery Ferguson, Justin Ladd, Ethan Dee, Tim Brown, Joey Canter, J.C. Dilts, Barron DuBois, Steven Sutton, coaching staff: Coaches Scott Wanner and Joe Canter, Manager Bryce Duvall.

Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks presented the Ron Blake Outstanding Volunteer Award on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Kinder Farm Park Fall Harvest Festival. The program was initiated in 1985 to recognize the achievements and service of volunteers who support the Department of Recreation and Parks. The award is named in honor of Mr. Ron Blake, a former member of the Recreation Advisory Board and a community volunteer from Odenton.

Chris Rock, Girls Lacrosse Coach, for UYC has been named one of the 2006 recipients of the Coaches Sportsmanship Award. Only 12 of these coveted awards are presented annually, one from each of the high school feeder systems. They were established to highlight the positive aspects of recreational athletics. The Sportsmanship Award represents the highest honor the Department of Recreation and Parks bestows. This award will be presented on November 29th at the annual Presidents Council Dinner.
WE ARE VERY PROUD OF CHRIS AND CONGRATULATE HIM.

Breaking News: Chris Rock was also selected from the 12 Coach’s Sportsmanship Award recipients to be the Coach of the Year for Anne Arundel County by the Mid-Atlantic Region Sports Alliance.
