Volunteer Information
The
Greater Vienna Babe Ruth League, GVBRL, is strictly an all-volunteer
organization. It takes many, many people to do all the big
and
small jobs to make each season successful and fun for the
kids.
There are many ways in which your help would be appreciated.
Please be generous with your time, sweat, and patience to help continue
make the dream true year after year.
The
following is a list and
brief description of recognized positions to fulfill the volunteer
duty. Some are at the team level and some are at the league
level.

Team Manager
Team Coach
Assistant Coach
Team Parent - Assist in administrative duties asked by the
Team Manager.
Buildings and Grounds - Responsible for pre-game
field preparation and end-of-game field restoration, covering the bases
and pitcher's mound in the event of rain. Also ensuring that the field is restored after team practices.
Snack Bar - Each team is responsible to have a parent work the snack bar during the games.
Volunteer Coordinator - Responsible
for ensuring all team families are fulfilling their volunteer
obligations be it
through accepting volunteer duties or paying the opt-out fee.
An
accounting of the team fulfillments is to be provided to the
league-level Volunteer Coordinator.

Buildings and Grounds
-
responsible for usage criteria and ongoing construction
effort.
Additionally, each team has a volunteer responsible for pre-game
preparation, end-of-game field restoration, and end-of practice field restoration.
Concessions -
responsible for stocking, opening, scheduling, training, and
supervising volunteers; closing, and cleaning of the concession
stand.
Post-Season Concession Stand -
work during post-season tournaments and the Clark Griffith
League.
Officer of the Day Coordinator
- Assign individuals to be responsible for the daily operation of
the field. – scheduling people, equipment check in and out, etc.
Player Agent
Publicity
Quartermaster
–
Order, stock, distribute, supply, prepare, and collect uniforms and
equipment for all the league teams for both the Fall Ball and Spring
seasons.
Recruitment
Scheduler - Coordinate the scheduling of practices and games on all fields for all teams in the league.
Special Projects
Sponsorships – recruit and manage both
commercial and individual team sponsorships to support all the teams
and GVBRL.
Tournament
Director(s)
– generally each year the GVBRL hosts
a tournament at any one of the age levels and level of tournament
play. This individual(s) is responsible for directing and
coordinating the activities required
Volunteer Coordinator– This
individual is responsible in monitoring and assisting teams to ensure
all families are fulfilling their volunteer obligations be it through
accepting volunteer duties or paying the opt-out fee.
Transition/Fall Ball Team Rep
– responsible for getting names of all Fall Ball participants by June
26. All Teams will be responsible for obtaining the Fall Ball
registrations for their team and submitting them to the Player Agent,
along with the appropriate fees.
Transition/Fall Ball VLL Team
Rep
– Contact Vienna Little League, VLL, in the prior spring to
promote a fall transition season to the Babe Ruth League.
All
Prep Teams will be responsible for instituting contact with VLL 12-year
olds prior to the VLL banquet and obtaining registration and fees by
June 26th..
