This summer, the Diocese of Pittsburgh Soccer League teamed up with Challenger Sports, the largest provider of summer soccer camps and training across the U.S and Canada, to become our primary summer soccer camp provider. We were able to set up two week-long soccer camps over two separate locations, which resulted over 80 of our players working with Challenger Sports’ professional and qualified soccer coaches. As a result, we received only positive feedback on the experience and training the Challenger coaches provided, and already the schools involved have said they are going to bring Challenger back in next summer. This is what Tim Gehring from Holy Trinity had to say about the camp in McKees Rock:

“Ian - it did end up well and it seemed the kids all enjoyed it. I continued to get positive feedback from other parents telling me what their kids were saying. Thanks and hope to work with you again to get another camp here next year. I think that you had 50 campers [on the second camp] mostly from two schools at our camp. Based on that, I would think with a little planning and buy-in from coaches at other schools, you should be able to have many more than just two camps through the DSL! For the fee charged, a 5-day camp like this is a great value. Look at what other camps are charging for 4-day camps (usually $150) and put those comparisons with your marketing material! The coaches did a great job as well. Challenger is obviously looking hard at applicants and doing a good job of screening.”

Challenger Sports can improve and develop your school players/students through their 1000 Touches Curriculum, aimed at developing individual technique and skill through individual repetition and advanced drills. Not only this, the Challenger Sports coaches will educate campers on their Champions of Character: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Leadership and Sportsmanship, to become the complete soccer player. Camps can be structured to your school’s needs, and you have the opportunity to use the camp as a fundraiser for your soccer program. The camp is of no cost to the school, and all Challenger will need is your soccer field.
