Garden City Manhasset Lacrosse History

Garden City is part of one of the oldest and greatest rivalries in high school sports. The Garden City and Manhasset lacrosse teams first squared off in 1935. Both schools are perennial powerhouses. Manhasset currently leads the series 70-60.

The annual game became known as the Woodstick Classic, and now forms the central part of a weekend event for both towns. Each year the Varsity, J.V. and Middle School teams will generally play the same day. More recently, the Mini-Woodstick Classic was initiated by Garden City Youth Lacrosse and has provided a terrific opportunity for the younger kids to become involved in this great tradition.

Above we see the boys munching pizza after "the Mini" as part of a Woodstick Classic Weekend.
