2009 OVYBL 14s All- Stars
After many years of discussions, 2009 will mark the 1st season that OVYBL All-Star teams, comprised of talent from all over the Ohio Valley will embark on the Pony Sanctioned tournaments with 1 goal in mind...World Series!
Where and When could the 14 year old play?
The competition will be tough, but this group of (12) fourteen-year olds will have an opportunity of a life-time. To say you've been there is great; to say you won it would be amazing! This group of young men who have competed against each other for years will come together and build fantastic memories through baseball.
Where and When could the 14 year old play?
Due to the fact the we are within 50 miles of Pony Headquarters, we wont follow the normal Section, Region, Zone, World Series steps. Instead, we will compete in a local Satillite tournament. If we win, we advance to the Host Area Tournament, and if we win, we advance to the Pony World Series.
Due to an "in between" number of teams, Pony has decided to eliminate the Satellitte Tournament
scheduled for July 23-26 in Cranberry, PA, and advance all 9 teams to the Host Area Tournament
in Monessen, PA. With 9 teams, tournament has been moved up to July 28, from July 30. Bracket
will be released by Pony soon.

Hopwood Update
Call it nerves or call it jitters. I call it baseball...the game we all love, yet doesn't always love us back! The Ohio Valley 13's faced Pine Richland in the opening game Friday night, and quickly found themselves down 10-1 after an inning. The boys settled in, yet the damage was done. The game ended with a 15-5 final score.
Hopwood Update

OV 13s returned to Hopwood for the loser bracket game against Ingomar on Saturday afternoon. Ohio Valley ended up on the bad side of a 13-2 game to conclude thier run in the Pony13 Sanctioned Tournament.

OVYBL End of Season Tournaments
Attention all players, coaches, parents, umpires, league officials:
The 2011 season will be coming to a close in the next few days, with Mustang and Bronco finishing up by Tuesday 6/21. It was a crazy year of non-baseball weather, but for the most part we made it through. With that said, the OVYBL End of Season tournaments are set to begin. This is where we determine the league champions for the 2011 season.
The Bronco tournament will beging on Wednesday, June 22nd, and run every other day Wed, Fri, Sun, Tuesday.
The Mustang tournament will begin on Thursday, June 23rd, and run every other day Thurs, Sat, Mon, Wed, Fri.
The Pony division will start a bit later, as thier season continues through the end of June.
Mustang and Bronco brackets will be posted on Sunday, June 19th. (Happy Father's Day)
If your team is NOT interested in competing, let me know asap, as brackets will be formed this weekend. Thanks.
2011 OVYBL Championship Tournaments
Weirton Pirates (2) beat the Wintersville Giantes (3) 6-2, and the Weiron Cubs (12) beat the Wintersville Cubs (1) 3-0; to advance to Championship Game. Good Luck!
OVYBL Bronco Nationals nearly sweep 1st round, with the Wintersville Pirates the only remaining American League team in Elite 8. Friday night match up will take field to 4.
Elite 8 down to 5. Tons of work on fields to battle the rain, and 3 of 4 games played to stay on schedule. Nice job by all volunteers to beat the rain.

2011 OVYBL Pony Championship Tournament

I had a conversation today with Steve Seminera of the Steubenville Umpire Association regarding some Pony teams scheduling makeup games for this weekend. It was stated long ago that the final day of the regular season was the last scheduled game of Friday, June 24th.
The 2011 OVYBL Pony Champions Tournament is set to start this weekend, beginning Saturday, June 25th.
Seeded bracket is posted below. Unplayed games were considered ties when determining seedings, as stated previously. Game times were established by myself and Semi based on umpire availability.
