2008 CCWA Southern League CO-ROOKIES OF THE YEAR
For the first time in league history the Rookie of the Year award vote ended in a tie. The 2008 Southern League winners are John Nixon of the Couch St. Reds and Wayne Miller of the Portland Royals.
Both of these guys were their teams' Aces and they both put up incredible numbers all year long. They were among the league leaders in ERA and Strikeouts when the season ended.
John Nixon led the Couch St. Reds to the playoffs with his excellent pitching. He is one of only two players who have thrown a perfect game in league play, achieving the feat twice in 2008.
Wayne Miller was the on field leader for the Royals. He came through in some clutch moments and helped his team win some close games. He is one of the better all-around players in the South.
Runner-up was Kyle Schulz of the Gresham Braves
Congratulations John and Wayne.
