Registration Procedures for Out of Town Teams
The out of town registration /application form is a special form used to register out of town teams requesting to participate in Kids First.  A one time $100 fee is required for each team that participates in the Kids First program.  This fee is used to offset administrative costs (umpires, lights) for whenever the out of town teams play games in Springfield.  The majority of the fee goes toward purchasing trophies at the end of the season.  Since the teams are participating in Kids First, we want to ensure the teams receive and enjoy the same reward as our Springfield teams at the conclusion of the season.   In the past Kids First has provided medals at the end of the season, but beginning in 2008, we started provided trophies that cost an average of $7.50 each.   We are hoping each team will keep a roster of 12 to 14 players.  When you do the math you can see that the majority of the fee each team will be paying will be used towards the purchase of trophies.  This fee will allow the town that is sponsoring the team, the ability to have more money for administrative costs (umpires, lights, etc.) without the need to purchase trophies.
 
In addition to the $100 registration fee, each team has an option to buy into our insurance coverage.  Most towns already have an insurance policy that covers liability and medical for the players and the facilities.  If that is the case, Kids First only requires proof of insurance (copy of policy).  There is also an option to have Kids First purchase balls for the out of town teams home games, but again that is usually taken care of by the town that is sponsoring the teams. 
 
Most out of town teams simply pay the $100 registration fee and provide Kids First proof of insurance.
 
The town that is sponsoring the teams will keep all of the registration forms, but a team roster must be submitted whenever the Out of Town Application and fee is mailed.  Kids First needs a team roster to provide to the umpires so they can validate the line up card at each game the teams play in Springfield.
