From time to time, and especially at registration, questions are asked about our league and when and where various teams play etc. Hopefully the following questions will provide some of the answers you are looking for. If your question is not answered below, please feel free to contact one of our VP's, by going to the Executive Contact page and emailing the person in charge.
Question: I would like my son/daughter to play on the same team as another player or Coach. Can this be arranged?
Answer: When you register your child please specify somewhere on the registration form your request. eg: Please place John on the same team as "First Name,Last Name", or please place John on same team as Coach "First Name, Last Name" Most reasonable requests not affecting team balance are honored.
Question: Where will my son/daughter play their games and at what times?
Answer: Please visit the schedule section of the website. Last year's schedule is on the site for you to view up until late April. Look up your child's division to get an idea what times the games are and at what parks. These schedules with regards to nights and parks are fairly stable from year to year.
Question: When are the practices held and where?
Answer: Each coach for every team will discuss and decide on practice times based on the player and park availability. In some cases it will the same time every week or it could alternate times depending on the factors mentioned.
Question: What if it has been raining all day, is the game still on?
Answer: The players are usually instructed to report to the baseball park at their requested time. The umpires and coaches will make a decision closer to game time. Obviously if it is still raining the game will be called off and rescheduled.
Question: What if the field conditions are bad, will they still play if it is not raining?
Answer: If the rain has subsided, the park will be surveyed by the coaches and umpires, and a decision will be made by them to play or not. The umpire has the final say, and if the playing surface is deemed unplayable or unsafe, the game will be called off and rescheduled.
Question: It makes no sense to be driving to the park in the pouring rain, why should we go?
Answer: It is a fact that conditions vary greatly across the city and weather in one part can be much different than in another. Just because it is raining at your house or place of work, does not mean that it raining on the field, assuming you do not live or work in the same area as the field. Some playing fields drain very well after a rain, and could be playable shortly after the rain falls. The only way to determine the actual playing conditions is to be at the field.
Question: What equipment will I need?
Answer: Each player will require a personal batting helmet, Jock or Jill athletic support, Good athletic shoes or cleats (rubber only in all divisions but Junior), and a Baseball glove. You may visit our sponsor Ward and Patch for all your equipment needs.
Question: Will there be any games on weekends?
Answer: All House League games are from Monday-Friday with the exception of the Midget and Junior divisions, which play on Sunday nights.
Question: Does the League break for holidays?
Answer: No, we run from May to September continuous, However there are no scheduled games Sundays on long weekends.
