College Prep Open House
We will hold an Open House for anyone interested in finding out more about our College Prep Program. The event is being held March 28th, from 6-7 PM, at MaxTouch Soccer Academy. Register Now at Open House Registration
Collegiate Soccer
Each year, it is more difficult for graduating seniors to find a college where they can balance playing soccer and achieving their academic potential. Even after being accepted to a school, or finding a place they could play, in many cases, these students aren't prepared for the academic, physical, or mental challenges they will face. Convinced by many, that they must attend a four year college or university right out of high school, many students will decide to go. Some will simply give up playing to save their academic shortfalls, some will perform in a mediocre manner where both athletic and academic performance will suffer, while still others will simply leave school and return home.
College Preparation through MaxTouch
We have designed a program for less than the cost of attending many Junior Colleges, for those athletes who prefer to spend some time getting fully prepared for the physical, mental, and academic challenges of playing soccer in college. Our participants can spend one to two years getting ready for success. Students will participate in a year-round soccer development curriculum in addition to attending community college on a part-time basis. Our students will also benefit from our ability to act as intermediaries in setting up meetings, and interviews with appropriate colleges through our vast contacts with college coaches at all levels. We will help students and parents decide what schools make sense based on athletic fit, and academic objectives.
Training Program and Preparation
Each of our students will participate in an initial evaluation, and set their personal goals for the College Prep Program. Students will undergo regular evaluations throughout the college prep program to make sure that they are on track to meet their goals. The training curriculum will consist of technical skill development, tactical skill development, and physical development. We will have an all encompassing technical focus for all players. Our tactical development will invoke position specific training, with an overall team focus. We will push each participant to increase the speed at which they think, and play the game.
Mental Preparation
It is critical for each student to be mentally prepared for the rigors of collegiate sports and academics. Our Students will understand and live the principles of Mastery and Discipline. They will raise their levels of confidence, self-esteem and self-awareness. They will understand and take personal responsibility for their path to excellence and achievement. Participants will not only have responsibilities insofar as their school work, training, and playing is concerned, but they will also assist MaxTouch Soccer Academy with other player development programs. These programs will include youth level ball skills classes, clinics for recreation players, and help in the day-to-day tasks of the academy. In a way, the mentoring, and work done in the academy will be like many work-study programs with four year colleges and universities.
Academic Preparation
We are working with Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC, also known as NOVA) to help students reach their long-term goals in the classroom. We recommend that our students attend Community College on a part-time basis specifically, so that they can maintain the full extent of their NCAA playing eligibility. By taking 6-11 credit hours, students are gaining valuable credits they can transfer to the college they choose, while maintaining their eligibility. Our students will also have mandatory study hours while they participate in the program. Students will go through an initial academic evaluation, and be evaluated academically throughtout the program by MaxTouch Soccer Academy staff, and NVCC Counselors, to ensure their academic success.
