Intramural Rules
PARTICIPATION RULES & GUIDELINES

1. Playing time is at least 50% of game time whenever game time and number of kids per team permits.

2. From 1st grade on, coaches are EXPECTED to have AT LEAST one practice session per week.

3. Unless called by a coach within 1 hr of game time, players must come to the field. Cancellations will also be posted on the website.

4. The outermost layer of clothing MUST be the POBSC official uniform for that age group. An official uniform is described as a soccer jersey, shorts, socks. In addition, all players MUST wear shin guards under their official socks. Any other clothing such as Underarmor, sweatpants, sweatshirts, etc. must be worn UNDER the official POBSC uniform.

5. Sneakers are only allowed for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten players. Thereafter, cleats are required.

6. In cold weather, gloves and ear warmers are allowed to be worn.

7. Jewelry of any kind is not allowed.

Any child who has recently (within 30 days) had their ears pierced may place either a piece of tape of a band-aid over the earrings.

All other children will not be able to participate on the field of play with earrings on.

8. Hoods and hats are not allowed, except for observance of religion.

9. During the Pre-k and Kindergarten years, we recommend all children wearing corrective lenses should use athletic safety glasses or at the very least use a protective (holder) support band.

Upon entering the first grade, Due to safety concerns NO child will be able to participate wearing anything but athletic sport glasses.

10. Players should remain on one side of the field; Parents on the opposite side.

11. Parents are not allowed near or behind goals.

12. All school signs MUST be obeyed. This includes, no smoking, drinking, or pets are allowed.

13. Players and Parents MUST be respectful towards coaches, club officials and, most importantly, the referees. Failure to do this can result in expulsion from the playing area and/or expulsion from the soccer club.

14. Players must shake hands after the game as a sign of good sportsmanship. Inappropriate behavior during this ceremony will not be tolerated.

15. Players and parents are EXPECTED TO CLEAN UP after their games before leaving the field.


Other Details:

Team placement requests are honored at the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten level. Thereafter, teams are drafted every season.

The Club will hand out official uniforms appropriate for each age group as needed.

Each Team has one head coach and up to two assistant coaches.

No more then a 3 - 4 goal differential should take place at any game.

Each division has one division head and as many coaches and teams as possible to serve the needs of the age group.

Boys division heads report to the Boys VP of Intramurals; Girls division heads report to the Girls VP of Intramurals.

The VP of Intramurals report to an Executive VP and the President.

Any questions or concerns by players or parents should be addressed to the player's head coach first, then if necessary in the following order until satisfaction is achieved: Division Head, VP of Intramurals, Executive VP and President.

NDP U9 Rules
 
  1. Length of game - (2) 25 minute half's with a 5 minute halftime
  2. Ball size - #4 supplied by HOME team
  3. Field & goal size - minimum 40 x 70 yards and goal size 7' x 21'
  4. Referees 
    1. Home team supplies a certified approved referee
    2. Referee(s) should be at least 14 years of age
    3. NDP has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for any type of dissent or abuse (physical or verbal) towards a referee
  5. Equipment
    1. All rules MUST be strictly adhered to due to insurance requirements.  No exceptions.
    2. Appropriate equipment must be worn at all times.
    3. Players may NOT wear anything that, in the opinion of the referee, may cause injury to themselves or to other players.
    4. All players must wear shin guards that are fully covered by socks.
    5. Players may not wear jewelryTaped earrings ARE NOT acceptable.  Hard clips or beads may not be worn in the hair.
    6. No player may play while wearing any type of cast, even if covered.
    7. Cleats deemed dangerous by the referee may not be allowed.
    8. Goalie helmets are optional.  NDP recommends that uniform shirts be numbered for player identification.
  6. Players
    1. Must be registered intramural player with NDP member club program, NO EXCEPTIONS.
    2. Game play is  8 v 8, if agreed by coaches.
    3. A child may only play for one NDP club, though they may belong to other intramural programs.
    4. If a team is short of players, teams must play the match (that is, both teams must field the same number of players).  The exception is when a player is red-carded and his team has no substitutions.
    5. If they do not participate in that weekly intramural game, the player is NOT allowede to participate in NDP same week.
  7. Injuries
    1. When a player gets hurt, the referee must stop the game immediately.  The injured player must come off the field.  A substitution can be made for the injured player.  The injured player may return through a normal substitution.  The match restarts with a drop ball at the place where the ball was at time of injury.
  8. Substitutions
    1. Substitutions may be made on ANY stoppage of play with the referee's permission.
    2. If a substitution is being made due to injury, both teams may substitute other players, with the referee's permission.
  9. Slide Tackling
    1. Within the spirit of the LOTG.  No reckless or egregious challenges.
    2. Any reckless challenge, substitute for a "coaching moment".
  10. Fighting
    1. Is not tolerated, NDP follows ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY.
  11. Five - goal rule
    1. NDP vigorously enforces a five-goal differential.  Please cooperate.  Violations will be reported to both clubs and NDP Coordinator.
  12. Spectators
    1. Players & Coaches on same touchline
    2. All spectators are on opposite touchline
    3. Coaches are fully responsible for the behavior of their team's spectators.
    4. Coaches can be red-carded due to offensive behavior by their team's spectators.
  13. Team Management
    1. The home team must call the visiting team a minimum of 7 days before to confirm game time and location.
    2. For bad weather, the home coach must notify the visiting coach and referee at least 2 hours prior to game time.
  14. NDP will not entertain protests

 

NDP U8 Rules
 
  1. Length of game - (2) 25 minute half's with a 5 minute halftime

    1. minimum 35 x 55 or max 40 x 60
    2. goal size 6' x12' or 6' x 18'
  4. Referees 
    1. Home team supplies a certified approved referee

    3. NDP has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for any type of dissent or abuse (physical or verbal) towards a referee
  5. Equipment

  15. NO PRESSURE Goal Kicks - to encourage possession a "first pass free" approach should be observed for goal kicks.  Defending team players should NOT pressure goal kicks and should be asked to maintain a comfortable distance (I.E. midfield) when goal kicks are attempted. 
  16. In order to participate in NDP, the player MUST also participate in the same week intranmural game.  No exceptions to this rule.

 

 

(SSI) Suffolk Soccer Interleague - Rules

 

1. Length of game:

 

U-13 to U-23 2 x 35 minute halves U-11 to U-12 2 x 30 minute halves

 U-8 to U-10 2 x 25 minute halves

 

2. Size of ball (supplied by the home team):

 

U-8 to U-12 Size 4 ball U-13 and older Size 5 ball

 

3. Referees: "Part of the acknowledgement form"

Home team supplies a certified approved referee (two certified referees, for U13 and older Div).

 If there is only one referee, each team must supply a linesman.

 Referees should be at least three years older than the oldest player.

 For U13 and older, SSI strongly recommends the use of certified adult referees. If no certified adults are available, two certified referees at least three years older than the oldest player should be used.

 SSI has a Zero Tolerance policy for any type of dissent or abuse (physical or verbal) toward a referee.

 

4. Players’ equipment:

 

These rules must be strictly adhered to due to insurance requirements. No exceptions. Must have a pass to play.

 Players may not wear anything that, in the opinion of the referee, may cause injury to themselves or to other players.

 Eyeglasses permitted during play per SSI. All players must wear shin guards that are fully covered by socks.

 Players may not wear jewelry. Taped earrings are not acceptable. Hard clips or beads may not be worn in the hair.

 No player may play while wearing any type of cast, even if covered.

 Appropriate footwear must be worn. Soccer shoes, while recommended, are optional. Cleats deemed dangerous by the referee may not be worn.

 Goalie helmets are optional. SSI recommends that uniform shirts be numbered, for player identification.

 

5. Number of players: Max players on the field to play the game; "Part of the acknowledgement form"

 

U11 and older 11 v. 11

 U-8-U9 & U10 8 v. 8

 In a Super Rec game if a team is short of players, teams must play match (that is, both teams must field the same number of players). The exception is when a player is red-carded and his team has no substitutes.

 

6. Injuries:

 

When a player gets hurt, the referee must stop the game immediately. The injured player must come off the field.

 A substitution can be made for the injured player. The injured player may return through a normal substitution.

 The match restarts with a drop ball at the place where the ball was at the time of the injury.

 

7. Substitutions:

 

Substitutions may be made on any stoppage of play, with the referee's permission.

 If a substitution is being made due to injury, both teams may substitute other players, with the referee’s permission.

 

8. Red and yellow cards

 

A player or coach shown a red card receives an automatic two game suspension (to be served the next two games).

 A yellow card must leave the field for a min. of five minutes, and may return at the discretion of the referee.

 A substitution may be made for a carded player, whether a red or yellow card was received.

 The referee must file a report regarding red/yellow cards under Game evaluation/ Incident report on line with SSI.

 

9. Sliding: NO Sliding by any field player;

 

Sliding for the ball is not permissible and is considered a dangerous play.

 The goalkeeper is the only player allowed to slide and only when making a save on a ball shot on goal.

 

10. Fighting:

 

Player: Players are automatically suspended from the league and or plus fines.

 Adults (coaches or parents): The team is automatically suspended from the league and or plus fines.

 

11. Super Rec Five-goal rule: "Part of the acknowledgement form"

 

SSI vigorously enforces a five-goal differential. Please cooperate. Violations will be reported to both clubs

 Interleague Coordinators and the SSI Coordinator. Suspensions may result. All Reports filed within 48 hours

 

12. Spectators: "Part of the acknowledgement form"

 

Home Teams and their spectators must occupy opposite sidelines from the Visiting Team and their spectators.

 Coaches are fully responsible for the behavior of their team’s spectators.

 Coaches can be red-carded due to offensive behavior by their team’s spectators.

 

13. Team Management:

 

The home team must call the visiting team a minimum of 7 days before to confirm game time & place.

 For Bad Weather, home coach must notify the visiting coach and referee at least 2 hours prior to game time.

 If a game must be cancelled due to weather, there are no fines for this action," Mother Nature".

 All scheduled games must be played. Make up any rainouts or rescheduled games. This could cause a fine.

 

14. SSI will not entertain protests.
