We here at the Jr. Warhawks have been a Franchised Dizzy Dean organization since 2003. Dizzy Dean offers advantages over Little League and other organizations for many reasons. The biggest is that we have no boundaries restricting where you live to decide where you must play. This means that anywhere in the area you live be it Seminole, Largo, Clearwater, St. Petersburg. Pinellas Park and even Palm Harbour or Dunedin, you are welcome to play with your friends here at Seminole Dizzy Dean. Dizzy Dean allows us at the Jr. Warhawks to play in several age groups beginning with Tee Ball (3&4 yrs old) get on the ball field for the first time. Minor Farm (5&6 yrs old) transition from tees to coach pitch during the season. Farm Division (7&8 yrs old) who are begining to learn baseball basics, this division is still a coach pitch format but the players are starting to get competative and will have kid pitch toward the end of the season in the last couple innings. Minor League (9&10 yrs old) will be all kid pitch, stealing bases and starting to learn the real game of baseball. The Freshman League (11&12 yrs old) are now introduced to lead-offs, balks and the bases are moved from 60' to 70' with the pitching rubber now at 50'. The Sophomore League (13&14 yr olds) are now playing baseball with the bases at 80', pitching rubber at 54', lead-offs, balks and dropped third strikes are all included.
Dizzy Dean offers post season tournament play for every age from 6 years old to 14 yrs old. 6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14 Tournaments are held each year at the District and State levels. Winning teams advance through these tournaments to play in the World Series.
We here at the Jr. Warhawks feel that this organization was the best fit for us over other Leagues such as Pony, Cal Ripken or Babe Ruth because of the opportunities for our youth; Dizzy Dean also was one of the few organizations that has a Softball side, the same age groups are offered in softball as in baseball.
