Around the year 2000 the NFHS rulebook allowed uniform numbers to include the number 1. In 2002, the Valencia Tigers ordered the #1 jersey. Ray Magee wore the number from 2002 to 2006, then Christian Mack (pictured above) took over the #1 from 2006-2009.
It can be argued that Ray and Christian are two of the best Tigers in the past 20 years. Let's compare the two Tigers.

**Most wins in a career: Christian 71. Ray 62.
**Career points: Ray 1476. Christian 1017.
**Career rebounds: Ray 871. Christian 497.
**Career assists: Ray 217. Christian 211.
**Career steals: Christian 243. Ray 235.
**Both players were four year varsity players. (Ray from 2002-06 and Christian from 2005-2009).
**Both players were two year captains.
**Both Ray and Christian were selected All-CIF. (Ray as a junior in 2005 and Christian as a senior in 2009)
**Both were selected Empire League MVP. (Ray in 2005 and Christian in 2009)
**Both players led their teams to league titles. (Ray in 2005 and Christian in 2007 and 2009)
**Both players led their teams to unprecedented seasons (Ray led the 2004-05 Tigers to a school record 24 wins and to the CIF semi-finals for the first time since 1960. Christian led his 2008-09 team to the first undefeated season in VHS history and to a school record 13 consecutive victories).
**Ray was a first team all-league pick four times. Christian was first team all-league two times and a second team pick once.
**Both players were selected to play in the Orange County All-Star game.
**Ray and Christian actually played together during the 2005-06 season.
