Go To Top All fees are set each year by the Board of Directors. 2003 fees were set at $65.00 for the first child, $60.00 for the second, and $55.00 for the third. Maximum fees per household will be $180.00. To receive the discount the kids must be brothers and sisters, or live in the same household. Go To Top The fees collected by the league go into the general fund. These fees are used to cover the payment on the leagues loan, buy equipment, improvements to the complex, and the general expenses required to provide the league with a place to play. Except for the 4 & 5 year old instructional league no uniforms are provided for the individual players. The league provides the T-shirt for the instructional league, these teams usually play in shorts and tennis shoes. The majority of the the teams have sponsorship money to help in the cost of uniforms. If you would be willing to help sponsor a team please contact anyone on the board. Go To Top The Whitehouse Baseball – Softball League, provides leagues for boys and girls ages 4 thru 18. The break down is as follows: Instructional League Boys and Girls ages 3 & 4 T-ball 5 & 6 Boys – T-ball 5 & 6 Girls - Combo pitch 7 & 8 Boys – Combo pitch 7 & 8 Girls - Senior Midget 9 & 10 Boys Lady Midget 9 & 10 Girls Freshman 11 & 12 Boys Freshman 11 & 12 Girls Sophomore 13 & 14 Boys Junior 15 & under Girls Boys 18 & under Girls 18 & under Go To Top Go To Top Registration is set in February for boys and girls of all ages. This is usually two days, date and time set by the board. The only exception will be the instructional players, they can sign up either time. The players will participate in our mini camp at that time. This involves getting on the filed and catching, throwing, and fielding a few balls. Mini camps are run for all age groups except instructional. Registration forms will be distributed through the schools however you can download a copy on this website or register online. If you register online you will still need to show up at the assigned time for mini camp. Go To Top Go To Top We hold mini-camps to give the coaches an idea of the level of ability of each player. Each team is drafted by the coach and we strive to make the teams as competitive as possible. The mini-camp lets us do this a little better than a blind draft. Each player is put on the field and throws, catches, and fields a few grounders and fly balls. The only exceptions are the instructional leagues, there are no mini-camps. Instructional players can request to play for a certain coach or with a certain friend. All effort is made to accommodate the requests. Go To Top Go To Top All children who register on time, will be placed on a team, as long as the league has enough players to make a team. Sometimes in the older age groups we do not have enough kids to make a team, however every effort is made to accommodate any child who wants to play. Go To Top Go To Top Boys playing age is determined by their age on April 30th of the current year. If the child is 11 on April 30th of this year they would play with 11 & 12 year olds. Girls playing age is determined by the age on January 1st of the current year. If the child is 10 on January 1st of this year they would play with 9 & 10 year olds. Go To Top Go To Top A child can play up one age group only with the approval of the board of directors of the league. The parents must provide the board with a letter requesting that the child be allowed to play up. Each request is evaluated based on the child’s ability, and the recommendation by any previous coaches. No children can be allowed to play with a younger group except in the rarest of circumstances, with the league and boards approval. Girls can play in the boys leagues, but boys cannot play in the girls league. The only exceptions are T-ball, one boy can be on a girls team in 6 & 7 T-ball. All instructional T-ball leagues are completely coed. Go To Top Go To Top All games are generally scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday nights 6 & 8 pm. Some leagues may play a few games on Saturdays, however these are the exceptions. The regular season runs between late April and June, the post season is in July. There is usually a week or two for vacation between the regular season and post season play. Please be aware that in this league teams qualify for post season play, not all-star teams, therefore your commitment to the team should be through the post season. Go To Top Go To Top Practice schedules are left up to the individual coaches, however you can expect to practice at least once or twice a week before the season starts, and once a week after the season starts. Some coaches practice more and some less, your involvement with the coach can help him provide more practice time for the kids, so volunteer to help. Go To Top Go To Top It is a league rule that all players who show up for a game in uniform must play at least six (6) consecutive outs in the outfield and have one at bat at the plate. ( a player getting thrown out stealing for the third out, during an at bat does not count as an at bat ) The penalty for any infraction is twelve (12) consecutive outs in the outfield and two(2) at bats in the next game, failing that the coach is suspended for two consecutive games. These rules apply to any regular length game, either six(6) innings or a game ended with ten(10) runs, (see smith county by-laws for last game exceptions). They do not apply to any rainout game. During the season the coach is required to get all players on his team three(3) complete games. They must start and not be substituted for during these games, however any games missed by a player will count as one of their complete games. Go To Top GO TO TOP As a player you are making a commitment to the other players on your team to be on time for all practices and games. As this is a team sport all players on a team have to be committed to the success of the team for the team to be successful. Every year we have teams who have to forfeit games because they do not have enough players for a game, this is not fair to the players and parents who show up. Please take this into consideration before you sign up to play. Anyone who knows they are going to have to miss a major portion of the season, should note that on the registration form. As a parent you should be committed to make sure your child is at every practice and every game. Sometimes this is hard to do, however if you ask, someone on your team will be glad to help. All teams will provide a crew to work the concession stand at least once during the season, this will consist of 6 adults for the entire night. This league exists soley because of the commitment of its members, the city does not own or operate the league in any capacity. Members include anyone who registers a child in the league, all participants in the league, and friends of the league. Therefore no one person has anymore responsibility to make the park or the season playable, than anyone else. If everyone would commit a small amount of time, then the work would not fall on the shoulders of a few. Go To Top GO TO TOP All coaches should be glad to have any help during practice or the games. The league can always use your help during workdays. Any amount of participation you can provide will help make this a better league for all of us. Also any monetary help you can provide the team or the league would be appreciated, if you can help in this way please contact any person on the board. Go To Top GO TO TOP The league is run by the board of directors, who are elected every year at the general meeting held during the off season. This board is made up of 15 men a women who are committed to make the Whitehouse Baseball – Softball League an enjoyable experience for every child who wants to participate in the game of baseball or softball. That is our sole purpose for existence. These members are elected for a two year alternating term. If you are interested in helping in this capacity, please contact anyone on the board, or attend any meeting posted on this website. Go To Top Go To Top of Page
