BYLAWS

Based at Attitash Mountain Resort, the Attitash Alpine Educational Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the education of boys and girls in the sport of skiing.  AAEF was officially formed in 1984 with the signing of the organization's original bylaws by Richard Sorel, Gene Chandler, Mike Davenport, Zigmunt Pozatek, and Lee Harmon.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES

AAEF is overseen and managed by an all-volunteer Board of Trustees, each elected to a 3-year term by the membership.  The Trustees elects Officers to 1-year terms to manage and execute the activities of AAEF.

FINANCIAL

AAEF's operating budget developed by the President and Treasurer is presented to and approved by the Trustees annually.  Major expenses are reviewed and approved by the Trustees prior to making commitments.  Day-to-day finances are managed by the Treasurer and overseen by the President.

Per Federal and New Hampshire law regarding non-profit organizations, AAEF submits tax statements (Form 990) with the IRS annually.

In 2013, the Trustees established the Foundation Fund to manage AAEF's endowments and long-term investments.  An investment policy statement was created and approved by the Trustees to provide a guide to the goals and uses of the Foundation Fund.  Withdrawals from the Foundation Fund are required to be approved by a vote of the Trustees.

MEETINGS

Trustees meet regularly throughout the year to discuss short-term and long-term business and planning of AAEF.  Trustee meetings follow Rogers Rules and maintain notes to document discussion topics and Trustee votes.
