2013 Season - Radnor Wins Final Florida Outing
Behind strong pitching and great fielding, Radnor won a pitchers duel against Highstown, NJ in their last game in their Florida trip by the score of 3 - 1. Adam Erkis got the win going 6 innings and only giving up 1 unearned run and 3 hits while striking out 7. The infielders (Billy Greenfield at 1st, Sean Corelli at 2nd, Ellis Schaefer at SS and Tom Austen at 3rd) had a very strong game behind Adam making several difficult plays to save runs from scoring. Terrance Quinn had a nice game behind the plate throwing out 2 runners trying to steal second.
Sean came in and pitched a 1, 2, 3 7th inning to get the save. He also had a double to start Radnor's 2 run rally and Ellis had Radnor's only other hit (an infield single).
2013 Season - JV Beats Penncrest in Well Played Game
JV Beat Penncrest 3-2 in an excellent JV baseball game. Hits by Nick Blake, Mike Lanzone, and Nick Altopiedi. Garrett McGurl pitched a very strong 6 innings, and Zach Shapiro had a "clean" inning in closing. Outstanding catches in outfield by Andrew Austen (leaping), and Conner Zielinski(diving).
2013 Season - Radnor Wins District 1 Playoff Game in Extras
Adam Erkis drove in the winning run with a single in the top of the 9th inning and Sean Corelli pitched the final 2 1/3 innings in Radnor's first District 1 playoff win as a AAAA school in baseball.
Adam pitched a very good game allowing only 3 earned runs over 6 2/3 innings in the 8 - 7 win. He also had 3 hits. Connor Wilson had 3 hits and 2 RBIs and Ben Cohen had a excellent day at the plate with 3 hits, 1 RBI and a stolen base.
With Radnor down 7 - 5 in the sixth inning, Billy Greenfield came up to the plate with 2 outs and runners on first and third. He hit the first pitch for a clutch single to drive in James Lofton and then Connor Wilson also delivered with a game tying single. Both teams failed to score until the top of the ninth when Adam came through with what proved to be the game winning hit.
Next up for Radnor is the third meeting with Strath Haven.
2013 Season - Varsity Goes Extras in Win at Plymouth Whitemarsh
Radnor beat Plymouth Whitemarsh 6 - 4 in 10 innings in a non-league contest. Andrew Austen pitched 4 scoreless innings to get his first varsity win. Andrew, a freshman, did not allow a hit, striking out 3 with only 1 walk. Tom Austen made several nice catches at first base erasing potential hits while Andrew was pitching.
Sean Corelli had 2 hits and 3 RBI and Ellis Schaefer had what proved to be the game-winning RBI with a double in the 10th inning.
2013 Season - JV Ties Harriton in 7th Inning and Wins in Extras
JV won an eleven innings thriller at Harriton 6-3. After tying the game with a run in the 7th, Mike Lanzone (3B), scored go-head run on John Lord's ground ball, and Zach Shapiro's Rbi broke open the game in the 11th. Will Girton led the multi-hit attack with 4 hits (2 doubles), Shapiro had 3 hits (including a double). John Lord, Connor Zielinski and Ross Ebersole each had 2 hit games.
Shapiro started and went the first 6 innings, and Will Girton pitched 5 shut-out innings to gain the win.
2013 Season - Corelli Leads Varsity to District Playoffs With Win Against Springfield
Sean Corelli picked up his 6th win of the season and combined with Billy Greenfield on a 5 hit shutout of Springfield. Sean went 6 strong innings allowing only 3 hits, with 8 strikeouts and no walks. He threw an incredible 50 of his 71 pitches for strikes in the win.
Adam Erkis had two hits including a double and 2 RBIs and Tom Austen was 3 - 3. Corelli also had a double and a run scored to aid his cause.
The varsity finished its league schedule with a 10 - 6 Central League record and tied for 3rd place.
2013 Season - Radnor Varsity Gets Revenge Against Harriton
After losing in 13 innings to Harriton earlier in the year, Radnor played a solid game and was in control throughout in the 8 - 2 win. Adam Erkis went 6 strong innings giving up 1 earned run and allowing only 5 hits getting his 5th win of the season. He also had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Ellis Schaefer and Sean Corelli had doubles and Josh Katz continued his hot hitting with 2 hits.
Billy Greenfield came in to pitch a scoreless 7th inning. Andrew Austen came in the 7th inning as a defensive replacement and made a great catch in left field that ended up in a double play.
2013 Season - Varsity Bats Awaken in Key Central League Victory
Radnor pounded 16 hits in the 8 - 2 win against rival Marple Newtown. Ellis Schaefer had 4 hits, Billy Greenfield had 3 hits including a 3 RBI triple in the 6th inning, James Lofton had 3 hits and Sean Corelli and Josh Katz each had 2 hits a piece. Tom Austen had a triple in his only at bat.
Sean pitched 6 strong innings to pick up his 5th win of the season. Billy Greenfield came in and pitched a 1-2-3 7th inning.
2013 Season - Varsity Beats LM on Katz Walkoff Hit
Radnor Varsity needed extra innings to beat a pesky Lower Merion team 3 - 2 in 8 innings. Radnor was held hitless until the bottom of the seventh when Sean Corelli had an infield single. In the eighth inning the varsity bats woke up when Connor Wilson pounded a double leading to Katz's heroics.
Terrance Quinn pitched a solid 5 innings letting up only 2 runs and 5 hits. Sean Corelli came in relief to get the win.
2013 Season - Solid Win by JV Against LM
Beat Lower Merion 10-4. Five pitchers held them to 5 hits, Shapiro, Girton, Zielinski, Austen, and Laveran closed.
Will Girton had 2 hits (2B), Nick Blake two triples (3RBIs),and Andrew Austen chipped in with 3 hits.
Overall JV record is 8-5.
2013 Season - Big 7th Inning Rally by JV Shocks Stoga
Beat CONESTOGA HS 5-4 with a three run seventh.
John Lord's two out single scored Will Girton with the winning run.
Garret McGurl pitched 7 innings to earn the win.
RBIs were provided by Zach Shapiro (2), John Lord, and Connor Zielinski.
2013 Season - Corelli Almost No Hits Upper Darby in 5 - 1 Win
Sean Corelli threw 6 innings of no hit ball in the 5 - 1 win against Upper Darby. He struck out 6 and only had 1 walk. The no hitter was broken up by consecutive doubles in the 7th inning but Sean retired the next three batters for the complete game win.
James Lofton had an outstanding day with two hits (one a double), a stolen base and scored 2 runs. He also had a great diving catch in the 6th inning to at that time preserve the no hitter. Connor Wilson also had two hits, Mike Lanzone and Josh Katz had hits and Terrance Quinn hit a long shot that went for a triple.
2013 Season - JV Defeats Upper Darby
Won over Upper Darby 13-3 in 5 inning game.
Zach Shapiro winning pitcher (5inn), John Lord 3 hits, (2B) Blake Thomson 2 for 3, with 3RBIs, Andrew Austen 3 runs scored.
Others with RBIs were Connor Zielinski, Vince Altopiedi, Zach Shapiro, Henry Leveran,Will Girton and John Lord each had two.
2013 Season - Varsity Wins Close Game Against Garnet Valley
Adam Erkis went 5 2/3 innings with 7 strikeouts to get the win in the 3 - 2 victory. Billy Greenfield came into a pressure situation in the 6th inning with the go ahead runners on base and 2 outs. He retired the Garnet Valley batter and then closed out the win with a scoreless 7th inning. Radnor benefited from the sharp eyes in the dugout who noticed that a Garnet Valley player who scored in the 5th inning missed 3rd base - he was called out when Radnor appealed the play.
Ellis Schaefer had a clean single in the first inning to drive in Radnor's first run, Terrance Quinn had a productive ground out to drive in Radnor's second run and Billy plated Sean Corelli with the eventual game winner on a hard line drive to left field in the 5th.
2013 Season - Radnor 10 Runs Penncrest Behind Erkis 1 Hitter
Adam Erkis baffled the Penncrest hitters allowing only 1 hit, 0 walks and striking out 3 in a 5 inning 11 - 0 shutout of a good hitting Penncrest team. Adam also was one of many hitting stars with 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Billy Greenfield also had 3 hits and scored 3 runs, Tom Austen had a 2 run single and Ben Cohen had a key hit to drive in a run. The defense was solid with Sean Corelli and Ellis Schaefer making several nice plays to keep the Penncrest hitters off the bases. Terrance Quinn also had a beautiful diving catch in foul territory to end the 3rd inning.
2013 Season - Radnor Varsity Comes from Behind to Beat Ridley
At beautiful Villanova Stadium, Sean Corelli went 6 strong innings to get the win and Billy Greenfield pitched the 7th inning to get the save in the 5 - 4 win. Ellis Schaefer hit a long shot to center field that went for a triple and scored Radnor's first run. He later had a sacrifice fly to plate the tying run after Billy's key two RBI double in the 5th inning. Adam Erkis scored what turned out to be the winning run on an error on Ridley's second baseman in the bottom of the 6th.
2013 Season - Erkis Stops Springfield
Adam Erkis pitched a complete game, striking out 11 with only 1 walk and 1 earned run to beat Springfield 6 - 3. Chipper O'Sullivan had a key hit to drive in 2 runs and Sean Corelli and Adam had 2 hits a piece. James Lofton also had 3 stolen bases. Connor Wilson had a great diving catch in center field that turned into a double play to kill a Springfield rally.
2013 Season - JV Gets Nice Win at Strathhaven
JV beat Strath Haven 11-9 to get their second win in a row. After giving up a 4-run lead (twice!), Andrew Austen's 2 RBI hit in the sixth gave Radnor the lead for good. Garret McGurl got the win - 4 innings. John Lord 2 doubles, Zach Shapiro double & Triple - 2RBIs,
and Nick Altopiedi had 2 RBIs.
2013 Season - Varsity Wins League Opener
Radnor beat Lower Merion 14 - 3 in their opening Central League game. Their record is now 2 - 1 on the season. Sean Corelli pitched 5 strong innings allowing only 1 run and 1 hit with Radnor blowing open a tight game with 12 runs in the 6th inning. Connor Wilson had a great first game with the varsity. The freshman went 1 - 2 with a double and a walk, drove in 4 runs and had 2 stolen bases. Tom Austen went 1 - 1 with 3 walks and 3 stolen bases.
2013 Season - JV Wins Opening Game
Radnor had 14 hits in 3 innings. Multiple hits by Lanzone, Lord, N.& V. Altopiedi, Shapiro & Zielinski. Lord had 3 run triple, Blake 2 run double. Andrew Austen threw 2 innings of no hit ball. Nice start!
