President / Head Coach

Chris Fortunes

Chris’ background combines football experience and business knowledge.  He is 39 years old, grew up in Woodbridge, NJ until 2002 when he and his wife Kim moved to Old Bridge.  Chris & Kim have two children, Christopher John (CJ) who is now 10 years old and plays Tackle and Grace who is 6 and soon to be cheerleader.  Chris enjoys all football (NY Giants fan), music, guitar, exercise, traveling when time allows and most of all spending quality time with family & friends.  Chris’ father, Steve, was a predominant youth head coach back in the 70’s with the Rebels and coached many former significant players, coaches and board members, including Denis Kilduf.  

For seven years, “Coach Chris” coached at the Flag, 3rd Grade/4th Grade & Jr. Pee Wee levels.  He was a player at the Youth level for football, baseball & basketball and at the High School level for football and basketball.  He has also been a significant contributor with all management aspects of the SWS Rebels.  Chris is a certified Safety Officer/Member with USA-Heads Up Football.  Chris always enjoys working with children, as shown by his years of volunteer service and passion on the field.  He believes in “Teaching” the game at all levels to accomplish continuous improvement with development through focus, hard work, best effort, discipline, repetitive technique and fair play.  

Chris has been in Technology / Business Services for most of his career.  Over the past 18 years he has worked for three major corporations.  Chris has learned through experience that focus, maintaining structure in any organization and best effort should always be top priorities in order to reach your goals.  As President, it is Chris’ job to have a vision that will enable and improve the Old Bridge SWS Rebels year to year moving forward.

Executive Board Secretary/Mighty Mite 7 Head Coach

Pete Hunt

“Coach Pete” and his wife Ann grew up in Old Bridge Township and after living in Toms River NJ for several years, came home to Old Bridge in 2007. Pete and Ann have three children. Olivia a former Rebels Cheerleader, Dylan, and Brody are both current Rebels players. Pete is a Senior Buyer at Burlington stores.

The Hunt family has been involved with the Rebels since the late 1960’s. Pete and his brother’s Ed, Jim, John, and Bill all played for the organization and his sister Cathy was a cheerleader with the Rebels as well. Several of the Hunt brothers went on to play football at Madison Township/Madison Central High School.

Pete was the Head Coach of the 2007 and 2013 Rebels Flag teams. In 2013 Pete coached the grades k-2 Falcons of the Marlboro NFL spring flag football league. Pete is USA Football “Heads Up “ certified .

Pete’s philosophy of football is simple. “Football is the ultimate team sport,if you do your job to the best of your ability and your teammates do the same, the TEAM will be successful. “

Coach Pete only asks just three things.
1) Respect your teammates, coaches, and officials.
2) Give your best effort, 100% from whistle to whistle.
3) Have Fun !!!

Janos Sagi

 

Coach Janos grew up in Oklahoma and lived there until joining the Navy in 1998.  After two years in the Navy he met his future wife, Amy Shamburg, during a port visit in the Bahamas.  The couple was married in 2002 and have two kids, Tyler Kash, in 2004 and Emma Lynne, in 2006.  He is a member of IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Local 456 and owns his own electrical company, American Tradesman Electric, LLC.  He is also on the executive board of the Old Bridge Matrats (youth wrestling), serving as Secretary.

 

Coach Janos has been a member of the Rebels family since 2010 and has coached every year.  He is USA football heads up certified, CPR certified, and is a stickler for player safety.  He joined the executive board in 2013 filling the role as property manager.  

 

Coach Janos’ coaching philosophy is best summed up with one motto, “Hard Work Beats Talent When Talent Doesn’t Work Hard.”  He strives through regimented practices, with focus and discipline, to ensure that all competitors are ready to perform at their best potential.  Coach Janos believes that all players can contribute to the success of the team.  He believes that learning fundamentals will always lead to long-term success on the football field and in life.  

 

Coach Janos is always willing to arrive early or stay late to help any player that wants extra work to ensure all players feel they are performing to their best potential.

Joe Santiago

"Coach Joe" has been a football fanatic his whole life. Joe and his wife Tracey Santiago migrated to Old Bridge from Bayonne Nj in 2006. All three of their boys have followed in Joe's footsteps and love the game of football as much as their dad. Michael was a Rebel from 2006 thru 2013 and is now entering Old Bridge high school. Nick has worked his way thru the Rebels teams from flag to this years 6/7 grade team. Logan is entering his third year as a Rebel.

Joe see's the Rebels as his "Extended Family". He is a fixture at the Rebels field and is always wiling to do anything to improve the program. Joe is an experienced coach and award winnning youth and high school player, who makes his players laugh and teaches football lessons with pride. Joe is a USA Football/Heads Up/Rutgers Safety certified coach.
