TO HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS,
For those of you who would like to apply for a BYL referee position, please sign-up by clicking on "REGISTER HERE" on the left side of the BYL Main Menu. Once there click on the 2010 Referee Registration Form.
Additionally, you need to sign-up as a referee by visiting the OYLA website at http://www.oylax.org. Once you registered on that website, OYLA will inform you of future training dates. There is a possibility that the OYLA website has not been updated with the referee online registration form, check back and visit it again. Also, those interested individuals who registered on the BYL website to officiate games for BYL next season will be notified of future OYLA training dates.
All applicants (returning and new) will be required to attend the mandatory training session and pass the written test. Once you complete the required training class and pass the written test, you will receive an OYLA (Oregon Youth Lacrosse Association) certification. You must be a certified OYLA referee in order to officiate BYL youth games, and other youth lacrosse games in Oregon. Deadline to sign-up is January 1, 2010.
Due to an anticipated high number of interested players who want to apply as a referee next season, the league will also take into consideration the following:
-
former BYL player
- good knowledge of BYL/OYLA game rules for all grade levels
- volunteered in previous BYL clinics and/ or signed-up to volunteer in upcoming clinics
- Attend all required training sessions.
- Pass the written test and/or field training test.

The best qualified referees will be selected. All games are scheduled on Saturdays starting the first week of April. All referees are paid $20 per game.
