College Scholarships
May 12, 2008 --
As you know, one of our objectives is to help the girls have the opportunity to secure a college education. That is one of the reasons that I monitor their grades and try to help them when the opportunity presents itself. With that objective in mind, I have been talking to some of the parents about establishing a scholarship program for the girls that participate in the Hustle program. I am very happy to say that we have been able to develop a program that we think may set the Hustle program apart from all others.
The basic idea is that at the end of every summer we will award scholastic scholarships. Following the completion of our last summer game, those girls that would like to be considered will submit an application. The girls would submit the applications. The current scholarship committee will decide who receives how much. Each applicant is eligible to receive up to a $1,000.00 certificate for college. In theory, if a girl plays for the Hustle for five years and is awarded the maximum each year, they would have up to $5,000.00 available to them when they went to college.
In order to receive the money, those who have received scholarships simply present the Certificate with proof that they are enrolled full-time in an accredited college. It can be a Community College or a four-year University. When the Certificate is presented they will receive the entire amount that they have earned in cash and can use it for anything towards the cost of their education.
The criteria for receiving a scholarship are dedication to the program, performance, grades and need. The criteria are being refined and will be provided to you when they are complete.
The fundamental requirement is that the girl has to play for Hustle as long as Hustle wants her in the program. If a girl receives a scholarship certificate and the next year is offered a position on the Hustle Team but decides to play for another team, the Certificate previously earned is voided. Additionally, if a girl is playing for Hustle and then leaves, she is not entitled to a Certificate even if she returns and would otherwise qualify. The reason for these rules is that one of the primary purposes of the scholarships is to get girls into the Hustle program and have them commit to the program and it’s objectives.
We are guaranteeing that there will never be less than $1,000.00 to be distributed and are hopeful that in some years there will be significantly more available. As funds allow, we will adjust the maximum amount available for distribution.
We are very happy that we can provide this scholarship opportunity for the girls. It has been our intention to make Lady Hustle Fastpitch Softball the premier girls softball program. We think adding a college scholarship opportunity goes a long way in accomplishing that objective. We will provide additional information, as the program is refined.
Go Hustle.

We will be suspending the team fee scholarship service for the fall for lack of continued funding.
July 23, 2008 --
Hustle has been able to find several sponsors interested in providing future college scholarships for the players. However, we have exhausted funds available for assistance on team fees for existing players. We hope to be able to offer scholarships for the needy in the future but, unfortunately, we will need to suspend assistance for the fall and spring season. We will continue to work on fund raising to for future assistance.

Scholarship Applications
December 1, 2007 --
This application is for the scholarships that are available to players of need to help with team expenses. This is not the form for the college scholarship.
Please see the link, "ON LINE FORMS" to access the scholarship application.
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS FOR SPRING FEES ARE DUE BY MIDNIGHT ON 12/9/07.
(A hard copy of the form with the required signatures is due on 12/15/07)
To show a commitment to all the families and members of Lady Hustle, every player must agree to pay some amount of the membership fees themselves. In addition to partial scholarships, players may offset their costs by doing individual fundraising or by seeking their own private sponsors. The scholarship amounts available will vary amongst individuals and will be based on need, number of applicants, and the availability of funds. There is no guarantee that there will be sufficient money available. The scholarship application and information provided will be kept confidential and will be reviewed by the Scholarship Panel. Scholarships will be paid directly to Lady Hustle and will offset the player’s membership fees and other costs. Donors to the scholarship fund will have the choice to keep their donations anonymous or receive publicity for their support. We reserve the right to request copies of your 2006 Federal and State Income Tax Filings. Once the decision has been made, the decision is final. There is no appeal process. Recipients of the scholarship fund, and their families, must agree not to discuss their application process or the amount of funds received with anyone or risk losing those funds and being dismissed from the team.
Members of the scholarship committee can be viewed by going to the "Coaches and Staff" link.
