Summer Hoops - FAQ's

1) Why is the girls program a partnership between Princeton & Montgomery recreation departments but the boy's program is not? The girls league began in 2001 as a partnered effort between the two towns. The boy's league began in 1993 as a Princeton rec. program. Since then, the rules have changed to allow Montgomery residents to participate (at the nonresident rate) but the Montgomery Recreation office is not involved in the operation of the program.

3) Can I request a specific teammate? Team (mate) requests are not met often in the summer programs. Kids of the same age almost always play at the same time so carpooling is possible in most cases.

4) Where is Community Park? Directions to Community Park can be found in the directions section of this website.

5) What if I live outside of Princeton or Montgomery but I attend school in one of the towns?
Girls Skills Clinic: Nonresidents that attend school in Princeton or Montgomery may sign up immediately but you still do have to pay the nonresident rate.
Boys Summer League: Nonresidents that attend school in Princeton may sign up at any time and pay the nonresident rate.

6) What if I live in Cranbury? Cranbury residents may sign up for any of our youth summer basketball programs at the nonresident rate. Beginning in 2010, the nonresident rate for our summer basketball camps has been reduced from $240 per camper to $206 per camper.

7) I do not live in Princeton, Montgomery or Cranbury but I still want to play; what are my options? Nonresidents will be put on a waiting list until the program is set to begin. At that point the Program Supervisor will decide if there is room for additional players.

Additional questions? Please call Joe Marrolli: marrolli@princetonnj.gov

Nonresident Registration

Nonresidents interested in registering for youth summer basketball programs will be put on a waiting list until after the programs begin. If there is space available at that point, nonresidents will be added. To be added to the waiting list, please visit our CommunityPass.net online registration system, create your family account, & go through the steps of the registration process for the program. The system should recognize you as a nonresident and put you immediately to the waiting list. It will NOT ask you to pay for the program at this point.

Because our youth summer leagues are partnerships with Montgomery Recreation, Montgomery residents can sign up at any time. Montgomery residents must pay the nonresident rate for the boys' program (same rate as Princeton residents for girls program). In addition, Cranbury residents AND nonresidents that attend school in Princeton may sign up at any time but they must still pay the nonresident rate.
