To All Dizzy Dean Districts:
As President of the Seminole Jr. Warhawks Baseball and Softball I am pleased to invite you and your parks to participate in the 2009 Dizzy Dean State Tournament to be held at the Seminole Jr. Warhawks.
Enclosed you will find needed information and our Tournament Package for the 8 and 9 year olds. Please extend our invitation to all teams in your District that would like to participate. Please remember that any team planning to play in the Dizzy Dean World Series must participate in the State Tournament. Please feel free to make copies of this package and distribute them to your parks, this package will also be available on our web site at www.jrwarhawks.com
Our location offers each team to have their own unique experience depending on what they choose to do with their free time. We have put together a list of area attractions and venues, and team moms will receive additional information and brochures upon arrival to help plan activities and meals.
If you have league banners or sponsor banners please bring them with you to display at the Opening Ceremonies and during your teams games.
We are looking forward to having a great Tournament with some outstanding baseball being played, we also would invite you stay over for the July 4th week-end here in Pinellas County.

As President of Seminole Jr. Warhawks Baseball and Softball I would like to welcome you to the 2009
8 and 9 year old Dizzy Dean State Tournament. It is our goal to make sure that all that attend have the same quality experience, in this packet you will find all the needed information for a memorable time at the 2009 Dizzy Dean State Tournaments. Three other Pinellas County Parks are hosting the remaining State Tournaments and all the parks are with in short distance from one another so that you may visit them and cheer on siblings or other teams from your park or District.
Registration for the Tournament is $250.00 per team Dizzy Dean will receive $50..00 per team and the top two(2) in each age division will be refunded $100.00. The final $100.00 will be the teams gate fee. This is a charge in lieu of collecting for parking or admission for fall fans wishing to support your team. Paying the Team Gate fee means moms, dads, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and grandparents or any fan associated with your team will not be charged an individual parking or admission fee. We ask that this payment be made in two separate check of $150.00 and $100.00 each.
We have an exciting week of Baseball planned as well as a special Dizzy Dean State Tournament Night at Tropicana Field where all of the Skills Competition winners will be recognized in a special ceremony before the game with the defending 2008 A.L. Champion Rays taking on the Florida Marlins. TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE AND BASIC INFORMATION

back left to right, also please list any missing players or coaches.
Two checks made out to S.J.W.A.A. for $150.00 and $ 100.00.

Credentials Check
Credentials check will take place at the Mandatory Coaches meeting . Note: Please if at all possible
have your respective district director to verify and initial the roster forms for Birth Certificates
Check. This will help validate your teams eligibility and reduce time taken prior to the tournament.
Coaches reception and informational meeting (mandatory)
This is a mandatory meeting for team managers, host organization, directors and the Umpire in
Chief. Any unanswered questions will be handled at this time as well as the Tournament Draw and
any special ground rules. Local Ground Rules will be posted on our web site. www.jrwarhawks.com
Tournament Structure
Tournament invitations have been issued to ALL teams wishing to participate from each district.
Tournament Play will be a 3 game guarantee. Every pre-caution will be taken to prevent teams from
being " pitted” against each other from the same District in the First Round of play. Games will start
At approximately 9am each day of the tournament. Teams should plan on possibly playing Double
Headers and night games during the first days of the tournament. Awards will be presented to the
Top Four Finishing Teams in each age division.
Draw
The Host Tournament Director , along with the District Commissioner, will Draw for each of the
Teams pairings at the Mandatory Managers Meeting on Friday. The Tournament length is expected
To last five to six days ( this includes opening day festivities). Tournament Length may be less or
More , depending on the number of teams participating.
Please provide the following
A) Three (3) Original tournament Team rosters with players names exactly as on the Birth
Certificate– Signed and Notarized
B) Original Birth Certificate for each player
C) Completed Medical Release form
D) Copy Of your Leagues or Teams Insurance Policy
E) League Scorebooks and District Tournament Results

Skills Competitions:
Opening Day festivities will consist of a variety of skills competitions in which athletes representing each of the teams will compete for Top Honors. Trophies will be awarded for , First , Second and Third placements. The skills competition consist of Bunting, Base Running , Throwing Accuracy and (Hitting) Home Run Derby. Each Player may participate in only ONE skill, no team shall have more than the maximum number of contestants allowed per event. Below is a brief summery of each event.
Bunting Skills
Teams may enter up to Four (4) contestants for this event. Coaches will pitch to contestant. Each contestant will be allowed Six (6) pitches to bunt the baseball into a numbered grid laid out on the field, awarding points for their bunting accuracy.
Base Running
Teams may enter up to Four (4) contestants for this event. Officials will keep time records of each contestant as they run the bases .
Throwing Accuracy
Teams may enter up to Four (4) contestants for this event. This event consist of individuals showing their skills by throwing a baseball through or near a target. Distances may vary with age groups and points will be awarded based on their accuracy.
Home Run Derby
Teams may enter only two contestants in this event. Home Run Distance will be established per age group. In this event each contestant will have a coach represent him from his team to pitch. The contestant will get seven (7) pitches or six(6) outs (whichever comes first) and scores will be based on a point system. Markings will be laid out on the field allowing for points 1, 2, 3, and 6 for single, double, triple, and home run respectively. The player must score points by batting the ball forward. The batter must also hit the ball fair and out of the infield. A swing and a miss is an out, a foul ball is an out, and a hit into the infield is an out.
Allowing a poor pitch or ball to pass by does not count against the batter
All ties will result in a tie-breaker until a winner is declared. Tie breaker rounds will be explained at the time of competition.
