The "White Ash" is a 36 inch cylindrical piece of wood used in the production of Louisville Slugger baseball bats. This hunk of solid wood made its way into the Wildcat dugout during the 2004 season from a woodpile located at a relative's camp in the mountains of Galeton. The local lumber yard gives out these cylinders of wood upon request. Coach Kramer's eyes lit up when he saw this thing of beauty lodged in the wood pile behind the camp. To make a long story short, he saved the life of this "White Ash" from the blazing camp fire. He loaded it up and brought it to the ball field to where it was originally intended to end-up. Now this log is a special element of our equipment room. Teams in the past decided to carry the "White Ash" with them to all games. This log is so special, the coaches have decided to recognize each week's MVP by awarding him the "White Ash" award. Players receiving this honor will sign the log. Whose names will be on the log. Game 1's White Ash was difficult to select because all team members contributed to this victory and are deserving of recognition.  CR, Sac Bunting, Defensive Plays, timely hitting, pitching, and smart baserunning.  Narrowing the selections down to three, below are our first "White Ash" Winners for the 2007 season.  Central Mountain 8   Hollidaysburg 7.

The entire Wildcat team earns the "White Ash Award" for their presence to step off of the bus with a 2 run lead and then taking control of the game from inning 1 with 10 runs. They are also recognized for staying the course, keeping focused, and delivering the knock out blow by continuing to add runs each inning to finish the game early with 20. In all of this, the team conducted themselves with class and respect.

Cody Dolan, Colten Stover, Anthony Houser, Ryan Watkins, Brett Heggenstaller, Josh Germello, and Scott Zuback for passing the stick and keeping the inning alive with 2 outs in the 7th by passing the at bat on to the next hitter in the line-up. Great fight and a tremendous comeback!
