Coaching & Support Staff and all the SELECT GIRLS families.  Our SELECT GIRLS continued on their JULY COLLEGE COACHES EXPOSURE TOUR at their next stop in WASHINGTON, DC area  @ the US JUNIOR NATIONALS 17U EVENT!    LOWCOUNTRY BALLERS SELECT BALLERS start their WASHINGTON, DC EXPOSURE EVENT strong with TWO DAY ONE victories over tough NEW YORK CITY LADY BULLDOGS & PHILADELPHIA MID-ATLANTIC HEAT teams at beautiful CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY!  Our SELECT GIRLS continue to execute on the court and picked up TWO more victories on the SECOND DAY of the DC US Jr. Nationals.   The morning game was an aggressive performance against the STEALERZ team from WISCONSIN.   After a quick lunch the SELECT BALLERS played a tough NEW JERSEY PANTHERS team who had desires to grab control of the POOL with a victory.  However, our SELECT GIRLS stepped up their man-to-man defense and blew open a close game in the second half to remain undefeated in their POOL and looking to move into the TOP 16 with a win Tues. morning.  DAY THREE - YOUR SELECT BALLERS started by leaving the hotel at 6:30am  and used the early 8 am game motivation & the college coaches observing to jump all over the Frederick Maryland NIKKI TEASLEY team.  HOT outside shooting, and just too much, too strong defense led the Ballers to a big double digit win!   The BALLERS WON their POOL without dropping a game and are in the TOP 16!!!  If they can get by a talented NC FORCE team they will be in the Elite Eight!!!  A great start in the PM game TUES against the determined Carolina Force team from Fayetteville resulted in a 20pt plus lead at halftime!   Nevertheless, all good teams make a run and the CAROLINA FORCE team are a GOOD team!  They locked down the BALLERS in the second half and made it a tough game all the way to the end.   However, YOUR SELECT BALLERS did not waiver in the physical 2nd half and were able to still control the tempo, and hang on to a 10pt. hard fought victory!   The SELECT BALLERS now face a rematch with the MARYLAND GRIZZLIES ELITE - a team the SELECT GIRLS just beat in TENNESSEE last week in a great DOUBLE OVERTIME game!   This will be good game with the winner having a chance to get to the CHAMPIONSHIP!                      DAY FOUR IN DC - CHAMPIONSHIP "WEDNESDAY" CAME WITH THE SELECT BALLERS HAVING AN 8AM REMATCH WITH THE MARLYLAND GRIZZLIES LOADED FOR BEAR LOOKING TO TEAR APART OUR LADIES IN THEIR HOME AREA.   THEY ROLLED DOWN FROM BALTIMORE AND JUMPED ON OUR SELECT GIRLS RIGHT FROM THE TIP.   WITH A TOUGH DEFENSE AND GOOD OUTSIDE SHOOTING THE GRIZZLIES CONTROLLED THE FIRST HALF!  OUR BALLERS WERE PLAGUED WITH TURNOVER FEVER AND SQUANDERED MANY OFFENSIVE OPPORTUNITIES.   WE MANAGED ONLY 14 POINTS IN THE ENTIRE FIRST HALF.  IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASY FOR THE BALLERS TO PACK IT IN AND GIVE UP!  BUT YOU KNOW HOW THE BALLERS DO....ALL WE DO IS WIN!... THE SELECT GIRLS CAME OUT IN THE SECOND HALF STEPPED UP THEIR GAME AND WERE ABLE TO ERASE THE DOUBLE DIGIT DEFICIT TO GO UP BY TWO POINTS!!!  OK...GAME IS BACK ON AGAIN.   WITH THE GAME HANGING TIGHT TOWARD THE END UNFORTUNATELY THE SELECT BALLERS HAD SEVERAL TURNOVERS BACK TO BACK AND GAVE THE GRIZZLIES A SMALL CUSHION THEY WERE ABLE TO MAINTAIN WHILE THE BALLERS HAD TO RESORT TO FOULING.   MARYLAND KNOCKED DOWN THE FREE THROWS AND TOOK THE WIN IN THIS REMATCH!   THE MARYLAND GRIZZLIES USED THE TREMENDOUS REMATCH WIN OVER THE BALLERS AND THAT MOMENTUM CARRIED THEM TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP LATER THAT DAY!   CONGRATULATIONS ON WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE SILVER DIVISION AT THE US 17U JR. NATIONALS!  GREAT WAY TO FINISH YOUR SEASON!   WE LOOK FOR THE NEXT OPPORTUNITY TO GO FOR ROUND THREE NEXT YEAR!   ALTHOUGH, OUR SELECT BALLERS FINISHED A LITTLE SHORT OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME THE LADIES PLAYED EXTREMELY WELL ALL TOURNAMENT AND THE SINGLE LOSS WAS DISAPPOINTING BUT SHOWS THEIR IS STILL ALWAYS WORK TO DO.....ALL WE DO IS WIN!!!   THANKS TO ALL THE PARENTS AND FAMILIES THAT SUPPORTED THE SELECT GIRLS, FIGHTING THE DC METRO TRAFFIC, EARLY AM GAMES AT VARIOUS VENUES.   SPECIAL THANKS TO THE COLLEGE COACHES THAT TRAVELED AROUND TO CONTINUE TO EVALUATE & OBSERVE OUR SELECT GIRLS.  TRAVEL SAFELY HOME FROM THE DMV AND WE WILL SEE YOU AT THE FINAL EXPOSURE TOUR STOP IN AUGUSTA, GA JULY 29-31!!!   GOOD JOB LADIES....ALL WE DO IS WIN!!!   See you in AUGUSTA, GA!!!   Special thanks again to TEAM MOM - Kenya Brown for the transportation and TLC for the girls AND Sharon Keels (AALIYAH's mom) for great scorekeeping in place of TN scorekeeper - husband Bernard  during this event.   Grab a little rest SELECT Girls NEXT STOP on EXPOSURE TOUR - ELITE JAM II AT AUGUSTA, GA!!!  ALL WE DO IS WIN!!!

Lowcountry Ballers SELECT GIRLS Team

Coaching & Support Staff and all the SELECT GIRLS families.  Our SELECT GIRLS continued on their JULY COLLEGE COACHES EXPOSURE TOUR at their next stop in NASHVILLE, TN area  @ the BATTLE in the BORO!    After one day rest from the FLORIDA SHOWCASE our SELECT GIRLS headed up to through the mountains towards NASHVILLE, TN.   Our SELECT BALLERS had to get up early to register, get the required NCAA session completed and shoot over to their first game by 9:15am.  The SELECT GIRLS were appreciative and surprised that a full line-up of   COLLEGE COACHES were already there early to watch us go against the OKLAHOMA LADY ICE.  Our girls got it rolling early and blew open a close game in the second half for their initial victory of this event.   The girls grabbed a little lunch, quick nap, and came back in the afternoon to grab another double digit victory and show the COACHES that the Lowcountry Ballers Select teams was here to play.   DAY 2 started with an EARLY 8am GAME   for our SELECT girls and again the COLLEGE COACHES had the Starbucks, IPADs, & notebooks in full effect to evaluate the BALLERS against a tough SOUTH JERSEY BLITZ team.   This was a physical & gruelling contest from start to finish.   Our Ballers had the ball with the game tied under 12 seconds remaining when a tough closely guarded 5 second call turned the ball over to the Jersey Girls for a chance to win it.  However, our SELECT Ballers played tough D and the game moved into OT.   Fortunately, our Ballers got the tip, controlled the clock and after a transition bucket Aalyiah Keels went to the hole for the bucket to put the Ballers up.   Great team defense and rebounding enable our SELECT GIRLS to secure the early am OT victory!    Afterwards, all the Ballers hit the sack for much needed rest and prepare for the afternoon's contest.  Our SELECT Girls faced a shorter but quick Austin Texas Extreme 212.   Although our BALLERS led the entire game it wasn't until late 2nd half we were able to stretch it out and secure another double digit victory.   After four victories our SELECT girls were in firm control of their Pool but needed to finish undefeated to ensure a #1 seed and move on.   DAY THREE began with another 9am game and a TN KNOCKOUT team that was looking for the upset!    Despite lots of sloppy play by our BALLERS we finally started executing our game plan and the result was big double digit win and a spot in the top 12 of the 72 teams competing.    The second game of the day was against a very good Baltimore MD team who was undefeated, had won their Pool also and was looking to tear apart our BALLERS....which most of the first half and part of the second they were able to do.   With under 7 minutes to play and down 14 your SELECT BALLERS decided it was time to step it up for the Lowcountry.   They battled back with great man-to-man defense and inside scoring by our BiGS and clutch outside 3 pt. shooting by Maria Corella enabled us to force OT!  During the first OT our SELECT BALLERS grabbed a lead and played solid defense but a great effort by the MD Team resulted in a bucket at the buzzer AND a BALLER FOUL  !!!    Unfortuately, the MD player missed the and-one and the teams moved in DOUBLE OT.  GREAT team defense and JENIFER RHODES & BRIANNA BOYD went to work down low and with their rebounds and putbacks enabled the Ballers to strike early.   Nevertheless, the GRIZZLIES would not quit and were able to come back and tie the game but a good move by Aaliyah resulting in the bucket and a foul gave the Ballers the lead.   Although, we missed the FT JENIFER grabbed the REB and putback completing the comeback and giving the SELECT BALLERS the 4pt victory.   GREAT TEAM EFFORT was the reason for this victory and moved the SELECT Girls to the Elite Eight and a chance to get into the Championship game.    Nevertheless, the early game and the Double OT victory took a lot of the bounce out of the Ballers legs and despite the effort were not able to withstand the hot-shooting pressing, Kentucky Premier Team who had only played that am and were just to well rested for us to handle.   This single loss eliminated our SELECT girls just a step or two short of winning the Premier 16/17U Division but the fact that all the college coaches that had an opportunity to observe our SELECT Ballers perform was the best trophy!   GREAT JOB LADIES....see you in DC!!! Thanks to all the parents that made the long trip to TENNESSEE and special thanks again to TEAM MOM - Kenya Brown for the transportation and TLC for the girls during this event.   Grab a little rest SELECT Girls NEXT STOP on EXPOSURE TOUR - US Jr. NATIONALS in METRO WASHINGTON DC!!!  ALL WE DO IS WIN!!!

Lowcountry Ballers SELECT GIRLS Team

Coaching & Support Staff and all the SELECT GIRLS families.  Our SELECT GIRLS kicked off their JULY COLLEGE COACHES EXPOSURE TOUR in GREENSBORO, NC @ the Gate City Classic!   Despite injuries to 2 starting guards & adjusting to three newcomers to our team, the girls swept tough competition (WS Stealers, COLORADO FURY) the first day & were looking forward to the pool championship match-up with one of the best teams in the country - Phoenix Elite on their home court.   Our SELECT Ballers started strong and were in command and leading nicely at halftime.   Unfortunately, as all good teams do, the Lady Phoenix made a strong run in the 2nd half that got them back in the game and then the battle was on.   Both teams fought hard and our SELECT Ballers feel short in the end, but with all the college coaches below watching both teams really won big!     GREAT EFFORT in your first tournament together and GOOD LUCK down in Orlando, FL at the SUPER SHOWCASE!!!  ALL WE DO IS WIN!!!

Congratulations and keep "winning" this season!

Lowcountry Ballers SELECT GIRLS Team

Coaching & Support Staff and all the SELECT GIRLS families.  Our SELECT GIRLS continued on their JULY COLLEGE COACHES EXPOSURE TOUR at the next stop in ORLANDO, FL  @ the    AAU JUNIOR SUPER SHOWCASE!   After the LONG DRIVE (or short flights ) & short night our SELECT BALLERS had to get up early and start the SHOWCASE run.   A sluggish start by our SELECT girls resulted in an initial deficit to a good FLORIDA BLUE STAR ELITE Team.  (This team went on to win the SILVER CHAMPIONSHIP.)  Nevertheless, with COLLEGE COACHES watching, it was time for our SELECT GIRLS to step it up.   They finally got it rolling BALLERS style and were able to build a big double digit lead over the Blue Star Team.   However, late in the game unneccessary fouls, and turnovers led to the big lead decreasing and the resulting margin of victory only being 9 points.  This would come back to haunt the SELECT Team later in the Showcase.  Next up was the ALABAMA Vigilence Ballers.   Again, slow starting SELECT and energetic effort by the ALABAMA BALLERS led to a tight first half.   The 2nd half our SELECT Girls demonstrated why they are the "true" BALLERS and build a big lead in front of the coaches and coasted home with the victory and the sole possession of first place after day 1.   Day 2 schedule allowed the SELECT girls some much needed rest after the long trip and first day's games.   Unfortunately, our SELECT girls forgot to wake up  when the game began and the MASSACHUSETTS BAYTOWN JAGUARS kicked the BALLERS all around the court the entire first half building a big lead.  This solid team went on to win the GOLD CHAMPIONSHIP.   Nevertheless, with a large crowd of college coaches observing,    they saw our SELECT Girls battle back to within single digits but run out of time and ended up in a three way tie for first and due to a 2pt differential in points found themselves drop from GOLD to the Bronze position.   A solid CHICAGO area MIDWEST ELITE (eventual BRONZE Runner-ups) team victory knocked the SELECT team out of the tournament but their efforts had coaches smiling and marking down LOWCOUNTRY BALLERS to follow in Tennessee.   The team continues to improve and are quickly learning how to play better together.   Thanks to all the parents that made the long trip from NC to FL and special thanks to TEAM MOM - Kenya Brown for heroic efforts transporting and caring for the girls the last 6 days.   Get a Quick rest SELECT Girls NEXT STOP on EXPOSURE TOUR - BATTLE in the 'BORO in Franklin, TENNESSEE!!!  ALL WE DO IS WIN!!!

This information is critical for prospective student-athletes and their families in order to learn more and better prepare for future acceptance into an accredited college or university.

Many of our Baller student-athletes have aspirations and the talent to play basketball in college.   College coaches will be or have already started to make contact with you and whether you realize it or not you are being “recruited”.    In order for you to better understand this process the NCAA makes available the NCAA Guide for The College Bound Athlete.  It specifies your rights as well as your responsibilities as a recruited student-athlete.

If you are contacted by a college coach or before you contact a college coach, it is imperative for you to understand the rules and follow this guide.    Your parents and family members should also be familiar and adhere to these guidelines.

Here are some commonly used terms and their definitions that you will become more familiar.

Contact period - permissible for authorized athletic department staff members to make in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations.
Dead period - not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on- or off-campus or permit official or unofficial visits.
Evaluation period - permissible for authorized athletics department staff to be involved in off-campus activities to assess academic qualifications and playing abilities. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts with a prospect are permitted.
Quiet period - permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only on the member institution's campus.

The Lowcountry Ballers will assist your family with compliance to these guidelines as we provide you additional exposure
to college education opportunities.

SELECT BALLERS OHIO TOURNEY PLAYER JOURNALS

Raygon Hendrix   .....DAY 1 - Me and Jen plus the family had an early 5am awakening to get on the road.   The trip was long but a good chance to catch up on some much needed rest.   We stopped for breakfast at Krispy Kreme, it was delicious of course.  Our next stop was in Cocke, Tennessee, at a rest station.   It was awesome to be in a place that my family and I have vacationed so many times.   The Great Smoky Mountains are always such a blessing to see.  I love Tennessee.  On our way to Ohio we went through Kentucky.   We passed by Corbin, Kentucky, and not only was it a place where I used to live, but also where the first Kentucky Fried Chicken was built!   OUr last stop was in Lexingtion, Ky.   We visited with my aunt and cousins for lunch at Steak-n-Shake.  My brother and sister decided to stay in Ky for the weekend so the rest of the trip was just me and Jen plus my parents.  I loved seeing Cincinnati because it's kind of like a different life style.   It's such a huge and interesting city and I can't wait to see more of it.  This is a great place to have a tournament and I'm ready to get the win tomorrow!   DAY 2 - Today was a great day for basketball and team bonding.   We won both games and had a blast playing at the Univ. of Cincinnati.   All the sports facilities were beautiful and top-notch.  After our first win the team and i had lunch at Ruby Tuesdays.  Then we went on to win our second game by a long mile.   The competition here is great and it's awesome to see teams from all over join at one place to play the game we love.   For dinner we all went to Dave & Busters and had a blast.  It was great team bonding.  I got more tickets then Jen, just sayin.   On our way to the University we passed by some really cute little towns. It's crazy to see all of the industries and companies that are here.    Today was a successful day with my team and I loved it!   P.S.   The bearcat statue at the university was awesome...   DAY 3 - My 3rd day in Cincinnati was really fun.  We got our 3rd win this morning which qualifies us for the Championship tomorrow.   The game this morning was hard fought and I'm proud of the team effort we put forth.   After the game my parents, Jen, and I wen to Long John Silvers.  I love Long John Silvers!   Best chicken ever.   I wishe we had one in Charleston.   When we got back to the hotel me, Maria, & Jen went to the indoor waterpark across the street.  We had a blast.   The team went to the mall instead of coming with us, humph.   When we got back to the hotel after the waterpark we had a meeting with the coaches and talked about our summer schedule.   It looks like we're going to have a summer full of basketball.   We also talked of ways to improve our game.   Then Coach Jenkins gave us t-shirts, Thank you   .   All in all today was a good day.   Alot of team bonding.   My time in Ohio was awesome and I'm looking forward to coming back.  I'd also like to thank my parent for all they do, just thought I'd put that in there... DAY 4 -  The championship game was at 8 o'clock this morning.  That's the earliest game we have played all season.  We played hard and both teams were pretty equal.   They had some shooters just like us, but their shots were falling and ours weren't.   Coming to Ohio was a great experience and we got further then some people expected us to.   Even though we lost, it was worth the trip to come play and play against teams we have never played before.  I loved getting to see the different parts of Ohio.   After the game my parents, Jen, and I took off for our long adventure back to South Carolina.   We stopped in Lexington, Kentucky, to pick up my brother and sister.   At the gas station me and my dad were going to buy a UK tag for my car and the lady working the cash register was really nice.   She told us we could go down the street and find all kinds of Kentucky t-shirts and hats, it reminded me of how much I miss some Kentucky people.  Our next stop was  a resturant called "The Beacon" inSpartanburg, SC.   My brother went here withon of his friends (Coach Hooks & family) and convinced my dad that the food was good enough to give it a shot.   The food was great and the resturant was pretty cool.  Instead of having a cash register and stuff we told our orderto a guy and he shouted it out in "Beacon Slang" it waskindof overwhelming at the time at the time but after learning the history of the place it was awesome.   When we finally arrived back to Charleston dropped Jenifer off and headed home.   I want to give thanks to God that we made it there and back safely.   This weekend was successful over all.   We got some good team bonding in and became more together on the court.   It was fun and I can't wait until our next tournament.   Shout out to the coaches & parents for all they do..

Jenifer Rhodes  .....DAY 1 - My trip with the Hendrix's started at 5 am.  We had three stops in Hendersonville, Cocke County, and Lexington.   I took muscle relaxers for my back so I slept the whole time.   But we did stop to eat at the Steak n Shake in Lexington.   We passed through the county with the first KFC in Corbin County.   It was a great trip here and I'm ready for us to win tomorrow!   DAY 2 - Today in Cincinnati we had our first game at 10:30.   We won and it was a great game with Raygon's awesome crossover and Regime's amazing three-pointers.    We had lunch at Ruby Tuesday's then we had a great game afterwards.    Then since we all played awesome we deserved to go to DAVE & BUSTERS!   It was great to have that much fun with our team.   Now I'm ready to beast tomorrow!  DAY 3 - Today we went to Long John Silvers after our great victory over Team Sol.   Then Maria, Raygon, and I went to Coco's Beach across the street from the hotel.   It was AWESOME!   I'm ready to play hard during the championship game tomorrow!   I'm ready to win and then take a break and then start going to more tournaments.   And after the water park Mr. Jenkins had a "great" meeting with us.....very informational.    Then I had the best pizza ever from Papa John's !    Tomorrow is going to be great!... DAY 4 -  Today was the day of the championship game.  We didn't come out with a win but we did work hard and kept pushing.  The deciding factor was that their shots were falling and ours weren't.   But it was a great experience in Ohio and I can't wait for more tournaments.  On the trip back we picked up Raygon's siblings and then stopped and ate in Spartanburg at a place called "The Beacon".  It was pretty good but my head hurt so I didn't get to enjoy it that much.  I'm happy and blessed to be home with my dad.  I missed him a lot.  Can not wait for the upcoming tournaments with the Ballers.

Maria Corella .....Day 1 - My first trip to Cincinnati, Ohio was a success!   My dad and I started out to Charlotte, NC around 6 a.m this morning to catch a hour and fifteen min flight directly into Cincinnati.   AFter our flight we rented a car to drive to the hotel, which was only about 15 mins away from the airport which was perfect!   In all we arrived around 3:15, making it a pretty eas and fun trip with my dad.   I hope I'm able to touraround downtown Cincinnati but I can't wait to tour the University of Cincinnati and play with many talented girls in the area!   This is by far the best and furtherest trip I've taken for basketball and can't wait to take more!     Day 2 - Today was an amazing day of basketball and we won all our games!    The competition level here is amazing and I had a really fun time playing.   I can't wait until tomorrow to play another round of games, and win!   Also tonight was a really fun night to hangout and bond with the team!  I can't wait for another long distance trip!   DAY 3 - We're going to the championship!!  On the 3rd day in Cincinnati we've won all our games in the tournament and I can't wait to play today!  From the water park with Jen and Raygon to all of the fun games we've played it has been a really great trip to Cincinnati, and one I will never forget.  I can't wait to dominate in the championship, and go to more exciting tournaments!

Ashley Fields .....DAY 1 - I want to thank God we made it to Ohio safe.   It was a long ride, kind of uncomfortable.   We traveled through the pretty mountains, right next to clouds.   After being in the mountains and going around all them curves, we made it out.   We got into some country places, where we only see cows and a lot of horses.   After being around horses and cows for like 3 hours we made it to the pretty city of Cincy!   DAY 2 - Today was a blast !   We tackled our first game at 10 then we ate at Ruby Tuesday.   We came back to the room to lay down before the next game.  The last game of the day was great.  We killed that team, and we played as a team.   After the easy win we came to the room and shower-up.  We left an hour later to eat and play games at Dave and Busters.   We had lots of fun there.   We all like got serious about the little basketball shooting game, that was the best part.   After playing games for like two hours we came back to the room.   We all just chill as a team.   It was like a team bonding moment....   DAY 3 - Today got started kind of early.  We had a game at 10:30, it was a great game.  We played well as a team, and won!  We could of played another game but we all wanted to go the mall.   After eating and chilling for a good minute, we headed to the mall.   The Mall was pretty cool.   After spending an hour and half in the mall we all just sat in the room and bonded with each other, till our meeting.   After the meeting we all called it a night.  DAY 4 - Today's game was an energy rush.  We was up for a good minute in the second half and then we fell behind.  After playing catch up for about 3 minutes to the end we lost only by a couple of points.   This championship game was my favorite game of the tournament.  It showed what we do in tight situations.   I think we did a pretty good job all around.  After the game we headed to the room to shower up and get our stuff.   Finally we headed out!!!  It was a lot of fun in OHIO!

N'Dea Bryant  .....DAY 1 -  It's been a long day, but I know its going to be an even longer weekend.   My morning started off with a big buttery waffle from Waffle House and a late start to Cincy.   The drive wasn't as bad as I expected.   We stopped alot as always, and the coaches definitely made sure we were never hungry.   We picked upa new player this weekend named Regime, she seemed pretty cool.   I've played against her and couple of times, and I know she will be a great help to us the weekend.   Passing through Tennessee was beautiful, the mountains were amazing, it was something we would never see in South Carolina.   The worst part about it was the ear popping thing, it get's pretty annoying.   Today was my first time in Kentucky, I had no idea what to expect but what I saw was nothing but people and UK T-shirts.  People in Kentucky definetly support their home team.  Pulling into Cincy was pretty cool too.   The buildings were big, and there was alot of graffiti everywhere.  I can't believe AJ Green is playing here for the Bengals.  I ended off my night with a great talk with Coach from " "  I love "and all they show me.  I hope this weekend is a great one fo rthe Ballers!    DAY 2 - Today was another eventful day!  When I heard my phone alarm go off I was dreading having to wake up out of my great sleep.   I slept so hard I might have been snoring.   To start off my day, I had another waffle, but it definitely didn't taste like the waffle house waffle I had yesterday.   We go to Cincy not knowing what gym we were playing.   We played a decent game against the Pistols.   We won by like 8.  The 2nd game we had, we played really well, the team we played was kind of dirty.  It was a long day and we were all ready to go home, and sleep.    DAY 3 - Today was another successful day.  We played Team Sol, I really didn't like their attitude so I really didn't want to lose to them.   We played awesome as a team and pulled out the win.  I wanted to play another game but it wasn't happening.      We went back to the hotel to wash offf and went to the mall.   It was nothing spectacular just another mall.  I was so tired when we got back.  DAY 4 - I must say I really enjoyed this weekend with my teammates.   This weekend was very sucessful, I honestly, don't think nobody expected us to do this well.   We played hard all weekend, but we just couldn't pull it out in the championship game.   We had an early morning game at 8 against the Georgia Pistols Elite - Black.  They came out hot and they hit and they hit everything, and we just couldn't buy a basket for a while.  I really like the team we played against, they showed great sportsmanship, and showed us love after the game.  We had a long ride back home to Charleston and I think I went half crazy sitting in this van for so long....this was a great weekend for the Ballers and I enjoyed being around my team.

Donnesha Shuler ..... DAY 1 - The trip was fun and long but I thank God we made it back safely.  I enjoy being around the girls and getting to know them better.   Really thankful that you all allowed me to play.  Wish I could make it to practice sometimes so I could learn the plays and have more team chemistry.  The most interesting part about the ride was going through the mountains and downtown Cincinnati.  DAY 2 -  Saturday was game day.   I think we did okay the first game but could've did a lot better.   The second game was good.   Everybody had great defense and which led us to win by a lot.   Later that night when we went to Dave & Busters, it was fun to have the team together and laugh and play.   I think I got to know more of the teammates better but overall Saturday was a fun day.   DAY 3 -  On Sunday, when we played Team Sol at 10:30am, I was actually ready to play and untired.   We all played good and it was another one of the games that had awesome defense.   It was a very intense game but still came out with a win.   After the game it was okay walking around the mall with Regime.  She's a real cool person.  Never thougth we would become cool.   I love the girls and very proud I came to the team.  DAY 4 -  Today , Monday woke up just a little tired but still ready to play the championship game.   I think we played good but towards the end of the game.   We did better because we were in a man to man defense and the other team couldn't handle it.   I don't think I did too well this game because from the beginning of the game my hamstring started messing with me again so I couldn't really run like I wanted to.    The ride hoem was fun.  Had a great time on the van with Mrs. Jackie and her talking about charging her kids for rent to stay in her house and 25 cents to use the bathroom.  I also had fun on the trip with Dea messing with Mrs. Jackie ears and Ashley and Regime being funny and acting up.  But the whole trip from Friday to Monday was awesome, other than staying in the hotel kinda boring.  FUN TIME!!!

Regime McCombs ..... Day 1 - We are in Cincinnati, Ohio.   I think this is a great experience and a blessing to be down here.   It is great to be playing with another team.   I have been welcomed with open arms.   I feel that our team will play very well this weekend.   Let's go out there and represent South Carolina!   DAY 2 - Today was a great day!   We won both of our game.   The first game really brought out our passion.    The second game showed our chemistry and how well we play together.   After the first game we went to Ruby Tuesday's, where I had a delicious salad.   After the last game, we went to Dave and Busters.   I was hoping to see some cute guys.   I found one, but when he started talking, he turned me away.   Overall, this trip has been awesome, and I can't wait til tomorrow!   Let's go make it to the championship!   DAY 3 - This has been a great experience!  I had so much fun playing with these group of girls.  I hope to return soon.   Yesterday we played a great game.   It was a battle, but we stuck it out.  Our composure led us to win and be in the championship this morning.   We plan to go home all W's and no L's.  We are champions, and we have proved it.   Thanks to everyone for having me and welcoming me.  Now I will see everyone playing against me a whole new battle.  BALLERS!!!!  DAY 4 - This weekend was a great weekend!  These are a great group of girls.  Today we played in the championship and we lost.   It was a learning experience.    We got better mentally and physically.  I am so grateful that I was given this opportunity.  I thank God and everyone in my life everyday.   The trip back was uncomfortable again, but it was fun.   Ms. Brown almost threw up in the van.  She was car sick going through the mountains.  Aasima and J Mack broked the air vent.  It was funny.   Coach Jackie is hilarious!!!   She told us stories about how she makes her kids pay her kids pay her rent to live in her house.  This weekend was great!   Thankful to everyone!

Jocelyn Mack ..... DAY 1 - Driving up to Ohio was pretty relaxing, tiring, and fun.  Passing through kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina was very pretty view of the mountains.   Driving through the fog with all the bumps and curves.  Pretty boring start but hopefully these next couple of day would be funner.   DAY 2 - Today was as a really good day.   It started off with some good waffles at the hotel.  We won both of oupr games with a really good team effort.   After the game we really had fun at Dave and Busters.   We ate really well, played a lot of their games and had a good time.   DAY 3 - Sunday started off with only 1 game against Team Sol at 10:30.   We played really good beating them by like 10....I think.  After the game Coach Jenkins got us T-shirts which was nice of him.  We got something to eat, took a nap, and later went to the mall.  SHOPPING SPREE!!!  Overall today was also a good and fun day.   Sad to being home tomorrow but he good thing is that we are in the championship tomorrow.... DAY 4 -  Championship DAY!!!  Woke up around 6:30am to find out gym we play at wasn't opened on time.  So we took pictures and joked around having a good time until the man with the key came and played ball.   We fell short and didn't come out with a win but played really well.  On the way back home it was a fun ride with everyone tripping and Coach Jackie talking  about charging her kids to live with her.   The weekend wasfun and the tournament was good competition.

Aasima Walker ..... DAY 1 - So, to start the day off, we left an hour late.  It took us about 4 hrs to get to Greenville.   Then as we approached NC the moutains were ginormous!  Eventually, we were in Tennessee.   The mountains were even bigger, and our ears started to pop.   It was a bumpy ride.    DAY 2 - To start the day off, we won both games.  The competition was pretty good.   I can't wait to see who we are playing WHEN we make it to the CHAMPIONSHIP game  .   As for Dave & Busters, it was awesome!  I've never been there before, but it was fun.   To end the night, the team and I chilled in my room for some team bonding.    TEAMMATES MATTER!!!.    P.S.  The van driver is sooo cool!!!  (Props to Regime's Dad !).   DAY 3 - Started off my morning with a messed up waffle!  Eventually we left for the game.  Team Sol was an aggresive tea, but we fought till the very end.  Despite the fact that the Refs did not see all that was going on.   Teamwork is the reason why we won that game.  Smart passes and of course good shots.   After our win, we wash up at the hotel,  and went "SHOPPING"!  Later that night we had a team meeting to discuss how we did on the game and more.   To end the night, we did NOTHING!   Championship game in the A.M.  Nite Nite!!!   DAY 4 - We came 4 pts short in the championship game today, but overall I'm proud of my team mates.   The whole tournament we played as a team, even though there no coaches to see us play, we played to our best abiltity.  It was a great experience coming to Cincinnati, Ohio.  I'm looking forward to the rest of our tournaments this summer!
Brianna Boyd ..... Day 1 - Today was very long and boring.   We left like an hour late.   The ride was very bumpy and uncomfortable.   The mountains were very beautiful.   Even though it made my ears pop.   Also we saw lots of cows and horses.   Day 2 - Yesterday was a pretty cool day.   We won both of our games.   After that we came back to chill at the hotel for a little while.  Around 8, we left and had a great time at Dave & Buster's.   DAY 3 - This weekend has been a wonderful experience.   We played an awesome game yesterday.  After our game yesterday, we had the rest of the day off.   We all showered and took naps before our departure to the mall.  Now its time to get some sleep, to be well rested for the championship game in the am.  That's all folks. lol   DAY 4 - This weekend has really been an amazing experience.  We didn't place first, but we did really great.  Even though we had one new teammate, we played as if we have been playing together for years.   We all bonded just like that.   In this trip there was never a dull moment.  We all kept each other laughing.  I thank God for bringing us up here safely and back.  I'm so ready for the next tri and the experiences that will come with it.   I love my teammates.

WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE BALLERS!!!

Mr. Larry Butler - First, I would like to thank the LC Ballers for having my daughter, Regime play with them this weekend.   The experience has been pleasant.  The Low Country Ballers is a first rate organization.    Well the team is in the championship game today and they have played well in each game in this Midwest Showdown.   The team is very talented with some of the elite players in the South.   I have enjoyed being part of this event, even though I have become the "Van driver"!!!  Mrs. Pam and Mr. Jenkins are top notch and Regime and I have been welcomed from the start.   Well that's enough for now.  Let's Go Ballers!!!

Kenya Brown -  Early rising on the 30th of May, ready to fight for the title of Champions of the 2011 Midwest Showdown.   We all met down in the lobby for breakfast and departure for the tournament by 7.   There was a peaceful mood in the lobby, the coaches talked business and details and the girls were trying to get a quick bite to eat and finish their daily journals.  N'Dea waffle maker just was not working with her.   All of the girls were dressed in their uniforms and matching MidWest Showdown t-shirts.  Once we got to the athletic center, there was no one there to open the door, so the Ballers along with all the other teams waited outside.   While waiting outside, we took team pictures and reminished on the awesome time we had all weekend.  Coach Jenkins called everyone together for team prayer.  We entered the athletic center an prepared for the Showdown.  The game was awesome, very close the whole time.   The girls played together as a team.   The ending score was 52-48 but the girls hustled all the way.   The girls were sad by the lost but knew they played a good game.  I love these girls.   Raygon's petitie status is ginormous on the court.   Maria, Jen and Raygon are in their own world when they are together.   They are so funny.   Ashley, Brianna, and Aasima are the joksters.   They are alwayes making everyone laugh.   N'Dea, gotta love her.   She in in a world of her own.  It's so much fun to be around them all.    Donnesha and J-Mack are the quire ones of the group, but they fit right in joking with all the girls.   Regime was an awesome addition to the team.   The girls welcomed her with open arms and was sad when she left.   Regime is a very nice person and I can tell she loves basketball just as the other girls.   Coach Pam and Coach Jackie are the moms of the team.   We know they mean what they say.   The rode home was so much fun.  We laughed, danced, and san the whole way.   I got a little car sick at one time but I was ok.

DAY 1 - thoughts from LeAnna Morrison...

Welcome to the 10 day Girls Elite Basketball Tour!!!  We have been chosen to represent the Lowcountry in something we do best.   Though we have yet to play a game, we all are eager to meet our competition and see just what we are up against this week.   The anxiety builds up from State to State, every stop we make; Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.   We all seem to awake just in time to see the sign that says "Welcome to...."    Today is our big day where we play against the best of the best from all over the country.   We hope to start our tour off just the way we imagined and hoped.   Not only will it bring smiles to our faces, but also the faces of our fans, sponsors, coaches, parents, and fellow Lowcountry Ballers.    6:00am EDT- 7:30pm Central time all in a cramped van  began our journey and from there we will give nothing but our best.   We hope that we can be successful and accomplish just what we want on tour, and again represent for the Lowcountry Ballers!

DAY 2 - thoughts from Jenifer Rhodes...

After long ride a good night's rest was welcome.   Morning we drove over a 20 mile bridge with water on both sides and our first trip over Lake Ponchatrain was an anxious experience for some of us.   Arrived at the Alario Center and completed our NCAA session and now it is GAME TIME!!!    EXCITING!!!  Angelique Green - almost got concussion going down low to rebound with the bigs.   She made a shot to send the game to overtime.  She made the winning shot as well.   Our team worked well together and we came together as a team.   Big lesson was that we never quit playing!   After game in rush hour traffic had like 1 1/2 drive to visit Louisiana State University (LSU).  Saw Mike the Tiger (live tiger) for 15 minutes wasn't very exciting.  We saw the campus, LSU National Championship football stadium, National Championship Baseball stadium, the National Championship Track & Field complex, and National Championship Pete Maravich Basketball Coliseum.   Wanted to go in to see the Lady Tigers facilities but some meat head said we couldn't go in to the gym.

DAY 3 - thoughts from ChaRon Singleton...
.

Our day started at 9:50am.  We walked the streets of New Orleans, specifically Bourbon Street. Bourbon St.  is one of the streets where people go to party at night in New Orleans.  It is also where part of Mardis Gras occurs.  After a little stroll we stopped at a resturant named Cafe DuMont. This particuliar cafe is world famous for their benyas.  Benyas are similar to funnel cakes and to me it was good.  We left the resturant and on the other side of the street was a silver man dressed in silver with a silver space jacket.  He was funny and entertaining.  He danced and interacted with his audience.  Today we also had a mini party, with pizza and cake, to help Aleighsa celebrate her 17th birthday!  Overall, today was a good experience because we tried and saw new things.

Day 4 - thoughts from Aleighsa Welch...

Fourth day gone, woke up still trying to regroup from the tough loss yesterday.   Had a game earlier, pulled out an impressive win, unfortunately couldn't do the same tonight.    I enjoyed the level of competition, most of all I enjoyed spending the time with my new group of teammates.  Even though when this tournament is over I can't be with them in Atlanta, I know they'll do well.   I've enjoyed every moment of this trip and moments like the ones I've shared these past four days can't be replaced!

Day 5 - thoughts from Jasmine Carson...

Today is the day we leave New Oleans and head to Atlanta.  The tournament in New Orleans was a great experience for us and we learned a lot about each other while we were here.   Even though we didn't make it to the championship game we played very well and learned how to play together as a team.   While in New Orleans we had plenty of fun and saw some things we've never seen before.   This was a a great opportunity to have so I can't wait to get to Atlanta to see the competition there.

Day 6 - thoughts from Ashley Fields...

Today we took a trip to downtown Atlanta.  Our first stop was at the famous Walters, where tons of famous people shop for all kinds of shoes.  Next, we took a walk to the "Underground" mall, where everyone to to shop for their own unique style.   Finally, we took a long stormy trip back to the hotel, where we stayed for the rest of the night.   Overall it was a nice relaxing day.   (Thanks to Traci Haltiwanger, GA State guard for guiding us around ATL).

Day 7 - thoughts from Brianna Boyd...

Today was a good day.   We all woke up and had breakfast.   For lunch we went to Dave & Busters.   While others sat and waited for our food Jenifer, Keiya, and LeAnna went and played games.   After Dave & Busters we all decided to go to the mall.   After enjoying the mall, we all came and settled back into the hotel and called it a night.

Day 8 - thoughts from Dekeiya Cohen...

Today we woke up early in the morning at 8 a.m. to be ready for departure at 9:45.   We went to Suwanee Sports Compex to register for the tournament.   Then we reviewed  a few plays.   We ate brunch that would last us until the game.   We all took naps then woke up in enough time to get to the sports complex to have a thorough warm-up.  We kept a nice lead on our opponents throughout the game.  We won 50-36 to a team from Atlanta.   Later, after the game, we went back to the hotel to shower, then to Golden Corral to have dinner.   Tonight we all can go sleep knowing we started the tournament off right.

Day 9 - thoughts from N'Dea Bryant...

Today we woke up to an early game at 10:20am, we played a pretty descent team but at the end we came out with a victory.   We came back to the hotel after we ate and we chilled and slept.   After a couple of hours we played again at 6:30pm this game was very tough.   We went into overtime and we won by 2 pts. from Kenee Green's free throws.   We went back to the hotel to get prepared for the next day.    The gym we played as was like no other it was so hot, it felt like we were going to pass out any minute.   We hope to never play there again.

Day 10 - thoughts from WHITNEY PALMER...

Today we had a game at 11:30 in the morning.   We were doing fine up until the end.   Our defense got sloppy and we lost our first game by seven.  We came back to the hotel, after we picked up our food, and ate and slept.   We had another game at 6:30 that evening.    We played really well most of the game but towards the end we made lots of mistakes and came up short.   Later we went to Zaxby's to eat and came back to the hotel and got in the pool for a while.

Day 11 - thoughts from ANGELIQUE GREEN...
.
As we head back to SC we sit in this packed van reminising about our wonderful trip to New Orleans & Atlanta!   Together we experienced new places, new teams, and new friendships.   We will truly miss playing together, our walks around the cities, Jenifer's jokes, and 'Dea complaining that she is hungry.  This experience was fun and will always be remembered.   On behalf of the Girls Select Team we would like to thank our parents for believing and supporting us throughout this trip, Ms. Pam and Ms. Jackie for taking the time out of their lives to take us, and Coach Jenkins for coaching, teaching, and believing in us throughout these tournaments and the entire Lowcountry Ballers Association.  We appreciate everyone who was a part of this experience and again we say thank you.   Now it's time to go back to sleep.
DUECEZ!!!

DAY 12 - thoughts from Chaperone/Coach Jackie Watson...
I would like to thank Mr.Jenkins, his family, Pam Greene, and the Lowcountry Ballers Association for the opportunity to work with such talented young ladies. I enjoyed the time I've spent with the Elite team. These young ladies conducted themselves like young ladies and represented the lowcountry and their parents very well. As we traveled to New Orleans I watched as the Ballers slept. I could see that each of them are very special in their own way. I was excited about the trip as I've never been. This expericence is one we'll always remember, new places, new friends, and meeting new people. One of the most exciting times was crossing over 20 miles of water (Lake Ponchatrain). I was amazed of how low the bridge is and I could only imagine Hurricane Katrina. Our first tour was visiting LSU campus where we saw the tiger LSU mascot. Our second tour we walk down Bourbon Street where the famous Mardis Gras takes place. We saw the Silver Man with his space jacket dancing in the street. We shopped, buying Tee-shirts and other things. Later that night, we sang Happy Birthday to Aleighsa.  We finished the tour in New Orleans 2-2. Now it's time to travel to Atlanta, we rested for three days before playing our first game. During our resting  period, we shopped once again at the Underground Mall and Walters Famous shoe store where all the stars shop. Now it's game time, we won our first game and the Ballers were excited. The next two games was played in a H-O-T B-O-X. THEIR WAS NO AIR CONDITION just a big floor fan that blew out mostly hot air. As I sat and watched the sweat run down their faces, I began to fan them with a towel so that our team would have some air to cool them. We won but they had to play hard in the heat. The third game was played later in the same gym. I placed ice packs on the back of their necks as they walked off the court to keep them cool and made sure they drank plenty of water. I told them if we win this game we wouldn't have to play in this HOT BOX again and they did just that WE WON. We was on a roll with three wins but fell short on the fourth and fifth games. We won our sixth game to bring home (4-2). On the way home, I turned and looked at each of them and I saw the ELITE TEAM. Each one have a story to tell of this road trip. When we say ELITE Team, what does it mean. Well to me it's Exceptional, Loyal, Intelligent, Talented, and Exciting. This is all the ingredients of our ELITE TEAM. I would like to say the Elite team was my family away from home and I thank the parents for trusting us. But, mostly I thank God for the patience and understanding that he have given me. Lady Ballers keep a positive and open mind. Do your very best, always be a leader and never a follower. Hold your head high and be proud because each of you are incredible young ladies and I know wherever you go or what you do, you will make all of us proud. .

POST TOURNEY THOUGHTS FROM THE DIRECTOR/COACH - Jenkins...

While I've already shared my personal thoughts with all the players at the hotel prior to their departure back to Charleston, I wanted to add a few more for the wider Ballers Family.    THANK YOU first of all to the PARENTS, FAMILIES, friends, and sponsors, that supported these SELECT BALLERs, enabling these girls to have this opportunity.  THANK YOU to AD - PAM GREENE & Coach JACKIE WATSON for volunteering to spend 11 straight days & nights with teenagers, none of which were their own children nor relatives!   As a parent of only three children, I can't really even imagine what type of patience it took to live with 10 teenage ladies for that long of a duration!   (These BALLERS were getting on my nerves almost on a daily basis while I was with them .)    So these two ladies' sacrifice and commitment are not only rare and valuable in today's world, but are examples of what we want our BALLERS to see, embrace, and emulate as they continue to grow into young adults.   Special thanks to the parents and families that also traveled to one or both tournaments to support their daughters!   It is always great to see familiar family faces in the crowd as our BALLERS put it all on the court.

Finally, thanks to my own family, Denise, RJ, Ashley and Syndney for sharing their time with me and the BALLERS.   Their understanding and love allow for me to passionately do some things for others that despite the many ups and few downs bring my heart joy.   They accept and allow me to miss some activities/events in their own lives to give back to others, if you get a chance, let them know the BALLERS appreciate their sacrifice as well.

Have a great rest of summer.....more to come about Community Service activity and BALLERS YEAR-END CELEBRATION.

Remember...

WE'RE GLAD YOU ARE BALLERS!!!

For more detailed information check the Baller Links and visit the NCAA website.
