The Eagles moved in to the gym they are playing in now during the 1958-59 season.  The gym was officially named “Harold Rigel Gymnasium” in 2003.
The Gym was renovated in 1987 removing a south wall for more seating and the lobby was renovated in 2003.

First game played at the Austin "Boys Gym" was November 1st, 1958. Austin beat Saluda 78-46

Photo above is from a game during the 1957 season at what is known in Austin as the “Old Gym.'”  The player-jumping center for the Eagles is Melburn Gasaway; notice the seats in the rafters.  The “Old Gym” is still in use for many community Austin events.
