Now that is it getting hot outside and your training your body for football season, it's time to know some facts to help avoid head related problems.

1) Drink plenty of water every day. At least 8 glasses. This is called hydrating your body which helps in preventing heat problems.
See chart-

Male Body Water Chart

Body Fat Body Water

4-14% -- 63-70%
15-21% -- 57-63%
22-24% -- 55-57%
25%+ --- 37-55%

It is important that you drop the soft drinks and replace with water.

2) Don't eat anything an 1 1/2 to 2 hours before practice. Stay away from fast food, spicy or fatty foods. Pasta's, pancakes, subs, are all good. You fuel your body like you fuel a car. If you put good fuel in, it runs better.

Get your body acclimated to the heat. Get out during the heat of the day and walk, jog, etc. Don't sit in the A/C all day and think you will be ok when it's time for practice.

Be smart! Prepare your body for football. Avoid any heat related issues and get ready to win!
