Millerstown Inn cruised to the Class B State Championship in Meadville over the weekend of July 30-31. They went 6-0 in the tournament, winning 3 games by the 10 run rule, and topping their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs per game. They beat Chet's Place from Eastern Pennsylvania, Hilltop Beer from the Harborcreek League, Rustic Inn & Stoneboro Distributing from the Franklin League, and PPC Lubricants from the Fieldhouse League. PPC finished 2nd in the tournament. Top hitters for Millertown Inn were Nathan McCollough (.684 avg), Dave Tarr (.625 avg), Jake Cuffman (.571 avg with 2 HR's), Brandon Goldinger (.550 avg), Don Kilgore (.538 avg), and Glen Kilgore & Eric Fuhrer each hit a homerun. Billy Yusko and Tim Dietrich handled the pitching duties. It is the team's first state championship in its 10 years of existence. They qualify to advance to the Class B National Invitational Tournament in Drifton, PA.

Monday, August 8
Brandon Goldinger hit a walk off inside-the-park homerun to cap a 7-run rally in the bottom of the 7th inning to give Millerstown Inn a 14-13 victory over Ball's Distributor. Erik Fuhrer Millerstown with a 3 run homer. John Trinidad, Justin Schweinsburg, and Josh Loos all hit homeruns for Ball's. Billy Yusko picked up the win, pitching in relief for Millerstown. The teams will face off again on Wednesday, August 10 at 7 Hills for Game 2.

Milllerstown Inn took a 4-0 lead in the 2nd inning and never looked back en route to a 9-6 victory over Ball's Distributor in Game 2 of the Chicora League Championship Series. Millerstown now leads the best of 5 series 2-0. Glen Kilgore hit a homerun for Millerstown. Billy Yusko got the win. Game 3 will be Tuesday, August 16 at 7 Hills.

Millerstown coasted to victory over Ball's Distributor in Game 3 of the CLCS, by a score of 14-5. Every player had at least 1 hit for Millerstown. Matt Klingensmith had a homerun and 2 singles, Brandon Goldinger had a homerun and a double, Chad Bell and Sluggo Smith each had a double and a single, Jason McCollough had 3 singles, and Brian Hobaugh & Jake Cuffman had 2 singles apiece. Billy Yusko started the game on the pitchers mound for Millerstwon and Tim Dietrich came in out of the bullpen. Nathan Markle had a triple and single for Ball's, while Justin Schwiensburg, Danny Ball, & Randy Zinkhan each added 2 singles. The championship is Millerstown Inn's first Chicora League Championship in its 10 years in the league. Some of its members won the league with Long's Market in 2007. It was Ball's 1st trip to the Championship Series in only 2 years of existence. CONGRATULATIONS to both teams in their success.

Millerstown Inn used their momentum from their Class B State Championship to take a 1-0 lead in the Semi-Final series over Armstrong/Countyline. Jason McCollough, Jake Cuffman, and Dave Tarr each hit homeruns to lead MTI. Tim Rupert and Lee Solada each homered for Armstrong/Countyline. Tim Dietrich got the win and Billy Yusko pitched in relief to combine for a 4-hitter. The teams will face off for Game 2 on Wednesday, August 3 at St. Patrick's.

Millerstown Inn closed out the series by beating Armstrong 19-9 in Game 2 of the Semi-Finals. Jake Cuffman hit for the cycle, including a homerun in the 3rd inning. Brandon Goldinger had a homerun and 2 singles, while Matt Klingensmith added a double and 2 singles. Lee Solada and Richie Toy each homered for Armstrong Beer / Countyline Tavern. Billy Yusko pitched for the win. Millerstown advances to the Chicora League Championship Series next week against the winner of Ball's Distributor and Last Laff.

Wednesday, August 3
Sammy Wiley hit a solo homerun for Ball's Distributor in the top of the 7th inning to give them a 13-12 lead and Nathan Markle threw the tying run out at the plate in the bottom of the 7th to preserve the victory over the Last Laff. Top hitters for Ball's Distributor were Justin Schwiensburg & Wiley who each homered & singled. Nick Morrow and Dan Ball each doubled and singled, while Jay Wagner & Markle each singled twice. For Last Laff Travis Bellis homered, doubled, & singled. Doug Augustine had 2 doubles, & Chris Miller & Shawn Bellis each had a double & a single. John Trinidad got the win on the pitcher's mound. The 2 teams will face off again on Friday, August 5 at 7 Hills.
Friday, August 5
Nick Morrow went 3 for 5 with a triple & 2 singles, and drove the game winning run home in the bottom of the 8th inning to give Ball's Distributor a 10-9 victory over Last Laff, winning the Semi-Final series 2-0. Last Laff took a 7-6 lead in the top of the 5th when Rick Belles & Doug Augustine started the inning with a triple & a double. Travis Bellis & Andrew Lariomore each had RBI's in the inning. But Ball's took the lead in the bottom of the 5th when John Trinidad hit a 2-run homerun after Sammy Wiley's single. Last Laff regained the lead in the 6th, but Morrow tripled in the bottom of the frame & was brought home on a sacrifice fly. Neither team scored in the 7th, leading to the game winner in the 8th. Trinidad also doubled & pitched for the win. Rusty Ketchum had a double & a single for Ball's & Wiley had 2 singles. Belles had a triple & 2 singles for Last Laff, Dave Craig & Joe Callihan each hit 3 singles. Ball's will face Millerstown Inn in the 5 game Chicora League Championship Series.

Ball's Distributor began the 2011 playoffs with a 12-2 win over Herman Mini Mart. Josh Loos led the way for Ball's by hitting for the cycle with a homerun, triple, double, and single. Nathan Markle added 2 homeruns, Sammy Wiley had a homer and 2 singles, Jay Wagner hit a homerun, Justin Schwiensburg rounded the bases on an inside-the-park homerun, and Dan Ball chipped in 3 singles. Roy Gallagher was the winning pitcher for Ball's. Game 2 of the series will be Wednesday, July 27 at 7 Hills.

Ball's Distributor swept the first round series with Herman Mini Mart by winning 11-3 in Game 2. Justin Schwiensburg led the way with 2 triples & a single with 3 RBI. Jay Wagner and Sammy Wiley each added a homerun. Roy Gallagher pitched for the win, his second win of the series. Ball's will play the winner of the Last Laff and Chicora VFW in the Semi-Finals next week.
#7 Chicora VFW vs. #2 Last Laff
Tuesday, July 26
Last Laff topped Chicora VFW 17-7 in first round action Tuesday. Tyler Callihan led the way at the plate for Last Laff with a homerun, double, and single. Eric McCue had a double & 3 singles and Keith Lehman added 4 singles. Rick Belles, Dave Craig, & Andrew Larimore had 3 singles apiece. Top hitters for VFW were Luke Slater with a double & 3 singles, along with Anthony Slater with 3 singles. Doug Augustine was the winning pitcher for Last Laff, with Dave Craig closing out the game from the bullpen. Game 2 of the series will be Thursday, July 28 at St. Wendelin's.

Last Laff closed out the series 2-0, advancing to the Semi-Finals with a 23-19 victory over Chicora VFW. Travis Bellis led the way with a homerun, double, and 2 singles. Rick Belles had 3 doubles and a single. Keith Lehman lined a triple, double, & 2 singles. Andrew Larimore chipped in 3 singles. Doug Augustine added 2 doubles. Eric Young was VFW's top hitter with a 3 doubles & a single. Anthony Slater had 3 singles, Eric Tuck had a double & a single. Dave Berry got the win out of the bullpen while Dave Craig closed the game out on the mound.

In a hard-fought battle, Armstrong Beer / Countyline Tavern edged API 12-11 in Game 1 of this series. Lee Solada sparked Armstrong at the plate with 2 homeruns. Jeremy Deluca hit a triple and a single, and John Rupp added a double and a single. For API Jeff Goodman, Ed Presley, and Dick Crissman each had 2 singles. Kenny Bussard picked up the win on the pitcher's mound for Armstrong. Game 2 of the series will be Wednesday, July 27 at St. Patrick's.

Keith Clark and JJ Bartolovic chipped in with 2 singles apiece. Dickie Crissman homered for API. Kenny Bussard and Scott Petres handled the pitching duties for Armstrong. They will play Millerstown Inn in the Semi-Finals next week.
