INTERIOR BASEBALL LEAGUE

The Mustang Division Coordinator is VACANT. Any questions can be directed to interiorbaseball@gmail.com. 

Players must turn 9 on or before April 30, 2024 in order to play in this division.

There are Skills Assessments for this Division, April 14th & April 28th, 2023 at Hutchison High School.

Playing Season: Practices and games start Mid-May depending on weather and the condition of the playing fields, and run through the end of July.  Two games and two practices are scheduled per week, with the possibility of a Friday practice.

Game Duration and start times:  Games are 6 innings in duration starting promptly at 6:00pm and 8:00pm, and are to last no longer than 1 hour - 50 minutes. No inning shall start after 7:40pm (early game) or 9:40pm (late game).

Umpires will officiate all games.

Players will pitch and catch at games.

Fundamentals taught:  All Mustang fundamentals, bunting, leading off and stealing of bases, sliding, how to routinely hit a pitched ball, improved fielding position, routinely fielding ground balls, how to catch pop flys, IBL rules specific to the Mustang division, basic cut-offs. 

Pitching fundamentals taught: how to pitch from the stretch, 2 finger grip, pick off to first base, basic defense positions, delivery mechanics, and pitching rules.

Required equipment:  Plastic baseball cleats (No metal cleats), baseball glove, cup recommended in this age bracket (required for all catchers).

Bat size:  In conjunction with USA Baseball and its other participating national member organizations, PONY Baseball has adopted the new USA Baseball bat standard (USABat). Effective January 1, 2018, with the exception of -3 (BBCOR certified), all other 2 1/4" and 2 5/8" barrel bats with a minus factor of (-5, -7, -9, etc.), must be USABat certified with the USABat licensing stamp on the bat in order to be used for league and tournament play. All 2 1/4" and 2 5/8" minus factor bats -5, -7, -9, etc. used in 2017 will be illegal to use in 2018.
