Pitching Competiton:
Each competitor throws 6 (six) baseballs at a “Strike Zone” (17” x 30” banner) positioned 45 feet away from a pitching rubber.
Scoring:
Each pitch that hits the Strike Zone is worth 75 points.
A score of 50 points is awarded to competitors who fail to hit the Strike Zone with their 6 pitches.
Running Competition:
Each competitor will run one time, for a distance of 160 feet.
Scoring:
11 seconds is the “base” time and is awarded 50 points.
For each hundredths of a second under 11 seconds, an additional point is awarded.
(example – Child completes the run in 10.97 seconds = 50 + (1100 – 1097) **decimals removed** = 50 + 3 = 53 points.
A score of 50 points is awarded to competitors who fail to reach home plate under 11 seconds.
Hitting Competition:
Each competitor will hit 3 (three) baseballs from a tee.
Scoring:
Only the best one of the three hits is recorded as the competitors score.
A tape measure is placed on a line 50 feet from home plate extending through the pitchers mound, second base and into centerfield.
Each hit will be measured for distance and accuracy. Distance away from the center line will be deducted from the distance traveled by the ball.
(example – Child hits the ball 100 feet, but the ball lands 10 feet wide of the center line. A string will be strung from the center line to the ball and that distance will be measured off by walking back towards the batter until meeting the tape measure… 90 feet would be the distance scored)
All measurements are in feet, with fractional distances rounded UP.
50 feet is the “base” distance and is awarded 100 points.
For each foot farther than 50, 2 additional points are awarded.
(example – Child is awarded 180 points for hitting the ball 90 feet)
A score of 50 points is awarded to competitors who fail to hit the ball at least 50 feet.
