Pro's Choice Field Program Day

Tuesday, August 12, 2008 was the Pro's Choice Field Day.
Thanks to all who were able to make the  Pro's Choice Field Day Seminar.
Steve Ohnsman from Pro's Choice put on the seminar and gave a history of the infield conditioner we are using, as well as instruction for installation.
Representatives from Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Department were in attendance and helped with the field work along with members of BSB.  Also in attendance were members of Blue Valley Recreation, KS, North Kansas City Baseball, Basehor KS. Other individuals that participated helped in the process as well.
Sonic Field, (#1), had the batters, catcher and umpire stations rebuilt with a durable subsurface of the Pro Mound clay bricks. The pitching mound was rebuilt and the Pro Mound Bricks were used for the subsurface. The infield skin was tilled with 14 tons of the Pros Choice Red infield conditioner, watered and rolled.

BSB Field Renovation Project
July 15, 2011

 Field Renovation Project, 2008. (photos)
For a number of months we had been working on plans for improving the fields at the American Legion Baseball Complex and when our league games were done for that season, we would  start a project that was spearheaded by Tom Lawson, our former Vice-President. The plan was to have the fields ready by the start of our Fall Baseball League which would be in a matter of weeks, (September 12, 2008). This should increase number of games played whether League or Tournaments
Improving the fields would allow us to hold tournaments with less cancellations, allow League games to be played as scheduled with a minimum down time after a rain.
Although cancellations and postponements would be minimized there are situations that would still keep games from being played. This is true even with state of the art complexes in the metro area today.
Throughout the years, the Board of Directors, for Blue Springs Little League Baseball, as it was formerly known as, (before Little League International came in with their Internatioanl Law Firm, and threatend our organization, with a trademark infringment suit), along with the present Blue Springs Baseball Board of Directors, is a proficient organization that with outstanding members and contributors to the League, was able to the build our present Concession, Maintenance and Equipment structure of the main building, main concourse, parking lots, fencing and lighting.
Even though, through the years, the toll of time has made a dent on the integrety of this Complex we have moved forward with a new strategy to help renovate the areas of the Complex that have issues with age.
In 2011 the BSB Board of Directors approved the commencement of the first annual BSB Golf Tournament to benefit the Leagues, "Capital Improvement Fund".
This will help in the replacement and/or refurbishment of the fences, backstops and lighting and emmenities at the Complex.
We have had a complete new lighting system bid to help improve all 4 Fields with the most current lighting technology and inclusive energy savings. The community of Blue Springs is being called on to help make this endeavor a reality and we, as a Board invite you to give a portion of your time to help us in the important re-development of our youth's favorite pastime and insure the longevity of that most important sport of Baseball!

  Donations can be made to:

All donations are tax deductible as we are a 501 C3 not-for profit organization. We appreciate the Blue Springs businesses that stepped forward with help on this project and we welcome any other individuals or businesses that can help with our plan for complex improvements, throughout the coming seasons to insure continuing committment to the youth of our community.
Considerable donations made by a business, will have that business recognized on our web site and and may be eligible for signage at the Complex.
We have been running the Legion Complex for the last 47 years as a completely volunteer organization and we do not have  municipal funds to help in these  projects. All help received, for current and future improvements, is greatly appreciated.
