Josh Burckhardt clubs six homeruns for the Penguins
BATTLE GROUND FIELD - Josh Burckhardt of the Vancouver Penguins hit a league record four homeruns in the first game against the Laurelhurst Pirates. In game two he added two more bombs to set the two-game series record. Congratulations Josh.

    2007 All-Star Game a Success!
The CCWA All-Star game was this past weekend at Nelson Field in Castle Rock. Here are the results from the evening.
Thanks again Willie & Kim for being such generous hosts. We had a great time!
    ROOKIE-FUN STAR GAME
The Rookie Stars took a 3 run lead in the top of the first off of Fun Star starter Mike Jones. In the bottom of the first the Fun Stars would respond with seven runs highlighted by Nate Bullock's grand slam off of Rookie Star starter Cooke Harvey. The Rookies would score 3 more in the top of the third off of a couple of timely hits to make it 7-6 Fun Stars after 3. The fourth saw Nate Bullock come in and pitch for the Fun Stars and Lance Sasser come in for the Rookie Stars. The score would remain knotted until the top of the sixth when Phil Shero hit a grand slam for the Rooks and Cooke Harvey followed it up with a solo shot. Lance Sasser gets the win, Nate Bullock takes the loss. It was a great game that was enjoyed by each side. Phil Shero was named Rookie/Fun Star Game MVP. Due to a couple of game day scratches, Phil Shero and Dave Carriker filled in for the Rookie Star team.
    HOMERUN DERBY
Dan Hurley, Beau Theisen, Eric Keele, Ed Bert and Nate Bullock would all advance to the finals. Dan Hurley won the HR crown with six homeruns in the final round.
    ALL-STAR GAME
This game was a pitchers duel from the beginning. Matt Jones started on the mound for the North and would hold the South scoreless for three innings. Dan Hurley would start for the South and match Jones pitching for three innings. In the top of the fourth Eric Keele scored on a Matt Miller single off of North pitcher Zac Warren. The score would remain 1-0 until the top of the 7th when the South scored three more on a couple of doubles and a couple of walks off of Tim Kramer. Eric Keele would come in for the South in the seventh and pitch three scoreless innings, giving up no hits and striking out nine while walking two. Dan Hurley gets the win for the South and Zac Warren takes the loss for the North. Eric Keele was named game MVP.

Matt Jones reaches 100 K's for career
JONES FIELD - Matt Jones of Jackmove became the first CCWA player to ever pass the 100 K threshhold for his pitching career. This moment happened in Saturday's game against league rivals the Lexington Brewers. Congratulations Matt.

Ty Baker strikes out CCWA record 18 for the Fatales
JONES FIELD - Ty Baker set a new CCWA record by striking out 18 in a six inning game. Bakes set the record in leading the Femme Fatales past Quiznos. In the game he gave up one hit (a homerun), one earned run, walked six and recorded every possible out by strikeout. The Femmes won 12-2. The old record was 15, set by Matt Jones of Jackmove. He set it on Opening Day of Season 2 against the Lexington Brewers. Nice job Bakes!

Ed Bert crushes four homeruns for the Pirates
DAVINCI - In the first game against the Woodstock Unicorns, Ed went 5-9 at the plate with two homeruns and 5 RBIs. He also scored four times as the Pirates won 14-7. In game two, Ed pitched four innings of no-hit ball, striking out four and walking one. At the plate he was 6-7 with seven RBIs and two homeruns. His second homerun was a walk-off grand slam that put the Pirates over the mercy rule barrier.
