League Play
There are four (4) "tiers" or levels of soccer competition in BC and Upper Island Soccer offers players the ability to compete in and move between tiers to play at the level of soccer that best suits them.

Tier 1 - BC Soccer Premier League (BCPL)
- For the "elite" player
Players from both Upper Island (UISA) and Lower Island (LISA) are eligible to play in this league and are chosen through an evaluation process.

Ages: U13 to U18. Born 1995 to 2000
Administered by: LISA
Registration through: LISA.
Season: Calendar - January 1 to December 31
Travel required: Province-wide. Games played primarily in the lower Mainland, with some in the Victoria area and the Interior.

Tier II - Vancouver Island Premier League (VIPL)
An Island-based "premier" league in second season; the league will operate in three age groups U14 (1999), U15 (1998) and U16 (1997) boys and girls. Upper Island will field two (2) regionally-based teams in each age group and gender, a total of 12 teams, six (6) girls and six (6) boys. Players from all eight Upper Island local home clubs are eligible to play in this league, and are chosen through an regional evaluation process.

Regions are:
"North Zone - Riptide" for all Campbell River, Comox Valley and Powell River players
"South Zone - Storm" for all Alberni Valley, Gabriola, Ladysmith, Nanaimo and Parksville/Qualicum players.

Ages: currently U14 to U16. Born 1997, 1998 1999.
Administration: through UISA for Upper Island and LISA for Lower Island
Registration: through Local Home Club
Season: Coastal - August 1 to July 31
Travel required: Island-wide. Games played in the Victoria area and Upper Island communities; Campbell River, the Comox Valley, Ladysmith, Nanaimo and Qualicum/Parksville.

Tier II - Metro Select League
An Upper Island-based club which competes in the Metro Select League. Players from all eight Upper Island local home clubs are eligible to play in this league, and are chosen through an evaluation process.

Ages: U18. Born 1995 or 1996
Administration: Metro Select
Registration: through UVI Metro
Season: Coastal - August 1 to July 31
Travel required: Games played primarily in the lower Mainland.

Tier III - UISA League
Rep Soccer League often referred to as Select, Developmental or B-Cup League. (The Lower Island equivalent is Gold). All eight Upper Island local home clubs are eligible to submit teams to compete in this league. Players are chosen through an evaluation process with-in their own club.

Ages: U13 to U18. Born 1995 to 2000. Plus U12 (born 2001) teams for Development
Administration: Upper Island Soccer Association
Registration: through Local Home Club
Season: Coastal - August 1 to July 31
Travel required: District-wide. Games played in Upper Island communities; Campbell River, the Comox Valley, Nanaimo, Port Alberni and Powell River.

Tier IV - House Soccer
Recreational soccer for children ages 3 and up, which focuses on fun, teaching skills and instilling the love of the "beautiful game" to create life-long particpants. Each of the Upper Island local home clubs run their own programs. Nanaimo, Oceanside and Mid-Isle participate in the Oceanside League U13 to U18. (The Lower Island equivalent is Silver or Bronze.)

Season: Coastal - August 1 to July 31
Travel required: No travel in "Pony" leagues, U5 to U12 or for Campbell River, the Comox Valley, Port Alberni and Powell River.
Oceanside league U13 to U18-Inter-club between Ladysmith, Nanaimo and Qualicum/Parksville.

Brief Overview:

BC Soccer proposed to provide an avenue for elite players that would line up with the National Calendar, running March to Dec., and have eight teams, six (6) in Lower Mainland, one (1) Interior and one (1) Island.

Jan. 22, 2011- There was a Special General Meeting in which Rule 28 was created, thus enabling the League to function in respects to Rule 23.

Jan. 31, 2011 - LISA in conjuction with UISA have submitted a bid for a franchise.

Feb. 17, 2011 - Announced that Lower Island/Upper Island were successful as 1 of 8 franchises in BC.

UISA has created a "Forum" which allows Club members from UI to voice their opinions (located above HPL on our Main Menu)
