    Baseball Attitude
February 25, 2008  --   Coaches Rank Attitude as the Top Attribute

Being good at athletics often has more to do with the head than the body. At least that is what 658 coaches said when they were surveyed. Having fun and trying hard, they said, are more important than having an athletic body. The coaches overwhelmingly said the pyschological factors are more important than phyical attributes when it comes to making real winners. In fact, when the coaches chose from a list of 128 characteristics that researchers compiled at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, the top five responses were, "Loves to Play", "Positive Attitudes", "Coachable", "Self-motivated", and "Strives to Improve". "Natural Phyical Athlete" was 19th on the list.

A few notes from the Coaching staff:
    - First of all, we would like to thank everyone who went to the BFS (Bigger, Faster, Stronger) Orientation last weekend.

    - To continue the BFS program we are going to have a baseball only BFS session Tuesday, December 12 in the weight room from 2:30pm to 3:30pm. Coach Moehlig will be reviewing the program and adding some baseball specifics to the routine.

    - Eventual baseball workout sessions concentrating on hitting, pitching, fielding & baserunning will be open to all those participating in the BSF weight training program.

    - As mentioned at previous meetings, Baseball spring break will be from Thursday April 4th to Monday April 9th.

    - To anyone taking the ACT test, the best test date would be on February 10, 2007 because the April 14th test date could conflict with the Macomb County Classic Baseball Tournament.

    - To anyone enrolled in Physics Classes please see Coach Lukacs concerning alternative assignments to the Cedar Pointe trip.

    - Saturday dates not scheduled are usually reserved for non-league game rainout makeups.

    - Please bring your e-mail address with you to Tuesday's meeting. From this point forward we are going to try to communicate with everyone via e-mail.

Looking forward to seeing you Tuesday,
Coach Lukacs, Coach Reeves & Coach Moehlig
