On Sunday, May 20th, the Lookouts Foundation hosted 14 teams at WHS that participated in the Home Run for Chelsea tournament. The 11U Lookouts Red, the 12U Lookouts Black and the 13U Lookouts Red competed at WHS and Kit Carson Park during this event.
At 11 am at WHS, the ballplayers, coaches and families welcomed Brent and Kelly King. The King family came to thank the ballplayers, their families and the volunteers that were involved in the tournament. During this "Time Out for Chelsea," everyone on site gathered on the JV baseball field as Laurel Zarcilla, daughter of Lookouts Coach Fred Zarcilla, sang God Bless America, the King's shared a heartfelt message with the ballplayers and a moment of silence was taken for Chelsea.
The Lookouts Foundation contributed nearly $4,300 to the Chelsea's Light Foundation as a result of snack bar sales, merchandise sales and registration fees. Our site proudly raised the most money of all the host sites. In total, nearly $55,000 was raised for the Chelsea's Light Foundation. The Chelsea's Light Foundation was established in honor of Poway teen Chelsea King and aims to provide legislative and education measures to protect children from sexual predators.
The Lookouts Foundation thanks our ballplayers and families for their unbelievable contributions in time and donations to ensure the Home Run for Chelsea tournament was a success!
