The Beaverton Youth Lacrosse League - 2010 updates coming soon!The Beaverton Youth Lacrosse League is a youth lacrosse program for 1st through 8th graders who attend the Beaverton School District elementary and middle schools and/or who live in the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District areas.  The purpose of the BYL League is to promote the game of lacrosse for youth players, both boys and girls, with an emphasis in the development of skills, sportsmanship, fitness and teamwork in an environment that is positive, fun and safe.

The Beaverton Youth Lacrosse League is affiliated with the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District. The BYL league defines and administers the league rules in accordance with the THPRD and the Oregon Youth Lacrosse Association policies and guidelines, schedule practice and game fields, oversee youth lacrosse member clubs, manage rental equipment, provide the New Player's clinic and the lacrosse clinics for coaches and players in March, coordinate and schedule referees for league games, operate and manage the Annual End of Season tournament and the Boys Select Team program including team selection, game scheduling and tournaments and operate and manage the Beaverton Youth Lacrosse Boys Summer program. The league also provides the Saturday league game scheduling for all BYL league teams and to those youth lacrosse member clubs in the Portland areas.

In addition, the BYL League is also affiliated with the Oregon Youth Lacrosse Association, who is the governing body of youth lacrosse in the State of Oregon.

For spring 2010, if you are a returning or new player who lives in the Aloha, Beaverton, Southridge and Westview high school boundary areas or does not attend a Beaverton School District school, please read the 2009 BYL online spring registration procedures below and register on the BYL website.

If you are a player who lives in the Sunset HS Boundary area, please read the information about the Sunset Youth Lacrosse Registration procedures below and you will be directed to the SYL website.  If you are still unsure or have questions or if you are a player who attends a private school and lives in the Sunset boundary area, and would like to register on a BYL team, please

Sunset Youth Lacrosse RegistrationSunset Youth Lacrosse is a new member club of the Beaverton Youth Lacrosse League.  Those players who live in the Sunset High School Boundary area will be directed to the new Sunset Youth Lacrosse website to register for spring 2009.  Click here /www.leaguelineup.com/bylax/files/Sunset%20HS%20boundarymap.pdf  for the Sunset HS Boundary Map and click here  http://sunsetlacrosse.com/Registration/Default.asp?snid=126395439&org=sunsetlacrosse.com to register on the Sunset Youth Lacrosse website if you live in the Sunset HS boundary area. The Sunset Youth Lacrosse parent committee will be responsible for coaches and team assignments, practice days and times and other club functions. 

IMPORTANT: To ALL SUNSET YOUTH Players only in Grades 3-8  - It is NOT necessary for you to renew your US Lacrosse membership separately.  Their registration system will do this for you automatically and the $25 fee is already included in your registration fees.

Before you leave the BYL website, please read the equipment options by scrolling down this page.  You can either purchase your equipment or rent it for the season.  You must complete the 2009 Equipment Online Rental form by January 31 which is located on the left side of the BYL Main Menu under "Online Registration Forms" if you plan to rent the equipment. If you do not complete the rental form prior to January 31, 2009 you will have to purchase the equipment at any of the stores mentioned below. 




2009 BYL SPRING ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

Please read spring registration procedures below before proceeding to register your child.  Deadline to Register:  January 31, 2010.


To All In-District/Out-of-District THPRD Residents:  You are required to provide a THPRD # when you register for BYL.  If you do not have one, please contact or visit one of the THPRD recreation centers to acquire a #.  Additionally, If you live outside of the THPRD district or attend a school outside of the Beaverton school district, you are required to pay a THPRD season fee. Once you pay this fee,  THPRD will provide you a #.  If you would like a listing of the THPRD recreation centers, please visit the THPRD website at http://www.thprd.org/.
 


  • ALL 1st/2nd GRADE BOYS AND GIRLS, once you have your THPRD #, please click on "REGISTER HERE" on the left side of the BYL Main Menu.  Once there, select the proper online registration form for 1st/2nd grade boys and girls.  Complete the BYL online registration form and you can pay by using a debit or credit card.  You are not required to be a US Lacrosse Member.  Fee:  $60 - includes:  team t-shirt and 8 one hour Saturday sessions.  Required equipment:  standard youth lacrosse stick.  See where to purchase a lacrosse stick below.

  • ALL 3rd thru 8th GRADE BOYS AND GIRLS ONLY, please read the online procedures below carefully:
      • Please visit the US Lacrosse website at http://www.uslacrosse.org/ and apply or renew a youth US Lacrosse membership.  The cost is $25.  Once you are on the US Lax website, click on "Membership".  When you successfully completed and paid for this membership, you will be given a membership number and expiration date.  The membership expiration date must be good through July 30, 2010 and later.
      • Return to the BYL website once you successfully completed your US Lacrosse registration. 
      • Click on "Register Here" on the left side of the BYL Main Menu.  Once there, select the proper online registration form for the player's grade.  Complete the BYL online form and you can pay by using a debit or credit card.  Fee:  To Be Determined.

  • FOR THOSE UNABLE TO USE A DEBIT/CREDIT CARD - you will still need to register online by clicking on "Online Registration Forms" on the left side of the BYL Main Menu.  Once there, select the proper online registration form for your player's grade level.  After you entered all the information on the online registration form, click "Submit", you should see a summary page, then click on "Checkout".  You should see the Credit Card screen, ignore it and you are done.  All the information entered up to this point will be received online. Then download the US Lacrosse Membership Form at http://www.leaguelineup.com/bylax/files/2008USLacrosse.pdf.    Complete the US Lacrosse form, sign it, and mail the completed US Lax form with the appropriate BYL registration fee for the player's grade level and also include on your payment the $25 US Lacrosse membership fee to: Beaverton Youth Lacrosse, 14845 SW Murray Scholls Drive, PMB209, Suite 110, Beaverton, OR 97007.  Endorse the check to BYL.


  • EQUIPMENT RENTAL - If you would like to rent a boy's ($75) or girl's equipment ($50) for the season, you can do so by clicking on the "Online Registration Forms" and select the "Equipment Online Rental Form" We have a limited # of equipment.  Please complete the online rental form to reserve the equipment for the spring season on or before January 31, 2009.  For 1st/2nd graders, please purchase a standard youth lacrosse stick at either Chopstix lacrosse, Bigfootlacrosse, Dick's sporting goods or Joe's.  Price range:  $25 and up. 
  • WHERE TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT?Visit http://www.chopstixlacrosse.com or http://www.bigfootlacrosse.com/ for store addresses.  You can also visit Joe's or Dick's Sporting Goods if you want to compare prices.  A start-up package for a boy's equipment that includes a stick, gloves, shoulder pads and elbow pads is about $200 and up.

1st/2nd Grade Boys = $60
3rd thru 8th Grade Boys & Girls = $130
US Membership Fee, when paying by on-line or check = $25
Boys Equipment Rental Fee = $75 (to be paid when you pick-up the equipment in February) - must fill out online rental form.

The Beaverton Youth Lacrosse
League
conduct its season every spring for boys and girls. 

1st and 2nd Graders Co-Ed BYL will be offering an instructional program for this age group.  8 week (1 hour per session) on a Saturday.  Additional information about this program will be forthcoming.  Season Fee:  $60.

For the boys spring program,
teams will be broken down into: 3rd/4th, 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade teams.  There will be two practices a week and 8 official Saturday games starting April 4, 2009.  If a friendly scrimmage game is scheduled during the week, that game will replace one of the practice days starting in May.  3rd/4th graders will be playing 8 v 8 while 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade teams will be playing 10 v 10, full field.  US Lacrosse fee $25 & Registration Fee: To Be Determined.

Boys/Girls Team Placement:  Teams will be aligned as much as possible to geographical attendance area and/or high school boundaries, however, if there's not enough in a geographical attendance area, they will be placed with other schools close to that attendance area as much as possible.  Also, keep in mind if you are new player, we will do our best to accommodate your request, but we also has to work around established teams.  We do our best to place everyone accordingly.
 
For the girls spring program, teams will be broken down into: 5th/ 6th and /7th/8th graders. Season Fee: To Be Detrmined plus US Lacrosse fee $25.
 
For girls (5th/6th and 7th/8th,
 
the season starts in the 2nd week of March and finishes at the end of May.  There are two practices during the week and 8 official games are held on either a Saturday or mid-week.  Season Fee: To Be Determined plus US Lacrosse fee $25.

3rd/4th Grade Girls:  8 sessions - instructional/developmental program.  If there is enough interest for this age group, BYL will not offer this program.  See registration instructions on Welcome Page.

An end-of-the season tournament will also be scheduled during the first weekend in June for both boys and girls.

For the boys and girls rules, please click on the left side of the menu.  All players will have equal playing time. No scores are kept during the games.




Boys and Girls Equipment Rental:
For those who would like to rent the equipment,  the rental fee for a boy's equipment is $75 and the rental fee for a girl's eqiupment is $50.  We have a limited # of equipment.  As soon as you register your child, you must also reserve the equipment online.  Follow the procedures on the Welcome Page.  Payment should be made at the time of the designated Pick-Up date. 

If you would like to purchase your equipment, you can visit Chopstix Lacrosse, Dick's Sporting Goods, Joe's and other sporting good stores.  Approximate boy's equipment cost is between $200-250.  Girl's equipment will depend on the stick and eyewear.  Click on links on the Welcome page to visit these stores' websites.

Boys Equipment: stick, helmet, shoulder pads, gloves and elbow pads.  A protective cup is mandatory.  BYL will provide the mouth guard and the reversible jersey.  Soccer cleats or football cleats are also required.

Girls Equipment: stick and eye goggles or protector.  Mouthguard and a reversible jersey will be provided by BYL.  Soccer cleats are also required.
