The Massapequa Holiday Tournament was first held in 1964. Created by Coach Al Bevilacqua in his 2nd year of coaching, the Tournament is the 2nd oldest Holiday Wrestling Tournament in New York State. The oldest, the Windsor Holiday Tournament began one year earlier. There have only been six wrestlers in the history of the event to be 4X Champions: Al Palacio (Long Beach), Tom Ryan (Wantagh), Joe Marinelo (Massapequa), John Oschmann (Hauppague), Paul Ligouri (Wantagh) and Sean McCabe (Connetquot).

Trivia: from 1998 - 2003 the Ianello brothers of Hauppauge combined to make a total of 12 appearances in the finals. This included 1998, 1999 and 2000 when three of the brothers were all finalsts.
