Once you have completed the commercial training, you can begin training for your Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) After CFI is CFII or Certified Flight Instrument Instructor.
The training for that requires intense ground schooling, mostly done by the CFI candidate at home. It takes hours of preparing lesson plans, studying rules and regulations, knowing flight requirements, maneuvers, and endorsements.
The flight portion requires no maneuvers that you have not seen before, but you have to fly from the right seat and you have to not only fly proficiently, but be able to teach the lesson as you are flying and recognize mistakes.
The cost is like all other ratings, it depends on the individual student, their skill level and commitment to the training.
You can expect about 15-20 hours of training, at a cost of $120 per hour (Plane and Instructor) in the Cessna 172.
Flight training with instructor = Appx. $2500
Required tests and supplies = Appx. $500
