2009 Honors

The 2009 season started out slow. The team lost 2 year starting cacther Bethany Cocola(moved to State College) and didn't have a replacement coming in to fill the spot. The team also lost starting SS Cassie Brown, Starting 3rd baseman Michelle McGinty, Starting 1B/DP Stephanie Tly and Emily Roynan(all PCL All Catholics) along with leftfielder Marie Petroginia. So we had 6 spots to fill and fill them we did.
The team tried Jess Tate and Megan Coates out at catcher and the results were bad and good. In Delaware at a scrimmage game Junior pitcher Shiela O'Hagan saw that we were struggling at the catcher position and asked if she could give it a try, it has all been up hill from there. Wood again got to the PCL Championship game , knocking off Kennedy Kenrick 4-1 and Archbishop Prendie 6-0,but again losing to Saint Hubert's 2-0.
BUT WAIT!!!
It doesn't end there this year, because the PCL is officialy in the PIAA and the Wood team has qualified to meet Hallahan for the AAA PCL Title and a bid to States, from there it's on to District's where the winner will meet the Public League AAA Champ CAPA for the PIAA AAA District 12 championship.
Wood beats Hallahan 12-2 to advance to PIAA AAA District 12 Championship. Wood would go on to win the District 12 PIAA AAA Championshp over CAPA 17-0 on Lisa Seidlers no hitter, before losing a tough fought game to Twin Valley of District 3 5-2.
