Champions Sports has partnered with the Lexington Indoor Soccer League and Academy and is now offering indoor soccer leagues and training! Garrett Stark is the founder of LISLA, which began in 2005. Stark played recreational, competitive, high school, and college soccer. All in all, he has more than 24 years of experience (playing and coaching) in the sport.
LISLA’s mission is to develop and maintain premier indoor soccer leagues and training in Kentucky. Winter 2009 will mark LISLA’s first expansion league/academy in Louisville, Kentucky.
The key to LISLA’s success is its non-walled approach to soccer leagues and training. Its leagues play with touchline boundaries, no walls, and a low-bounce ball, which make it comparable to outdoor play. Players are required to play the same quality control game that is required for success in the outdoor game, which demands quick reflexes, advanced ball striking skills, pinpoint passing, fast thinking and quick reaction time. A four-second limit on all play restarts is also implemented, which keeps the game moving and makes it exciting for children as well as adults.
LISLA’s leagues are more beneficial than traditional American walled soccer for several reasons. The 'outdoor' style LISLA promotes helps refine players' ball control, touch, and technique. In traditional American walled soccer, players tend to recklessly strike the ball (and sometimes their bodies) against the boards, which can result in improper technique and too often rewards errant play.
