SOFTBALL COMMISSIONER REPORT:

 

ØAllstar practices to start.

ØJDRF walk – DYSA to donate $200.00.  Pearson and Walnut street schools 5/31/13.  DYSA requested to set up a table to sell spirit ware – DYSA will donate 10% of the proceeds to JDRF.

Treasurer’s report:

 

ØCurrent operating balance is $15,807.41

President’s Report:

 

ØOpening Day plans are as follows: April 13, 2013 - 9:30am – Start Time

9:45am – Announcements to be made. There is no rain date for this event.

 

Vice-President’s report:

 

ØPearson gym usage for 2013-2014 has been approved by the Board of Education.

ØSoftball and Baseball photos – 5/1/13 at the Walnut Street gym – 5:30 to 9:30.

 

SOFTBALL COMMISSIONER REPORT:

 

ØCoaches meeting Thursday March 28, 2013.

ØTryouts for the 8U and 10U have been completed.  The teams are to be finalized this weekend.  Tournament dates are as follows:

Medford 5/4 – 5/6

Delran 5/18 – 5/19

Cinnaminson 5/31 – 6/1

Edgewater Park 6/14 -6/16

ØBatter competition is April 14 in Edgewater Park. 

 

SOCCER COMMISSIONER REPORT:

 

ØTravel Soccer Tryouts May 24, May 25 and May 31, June 1.

ØPlans to start an 8U girls travel soccer team for the fall season.

 

 

 

BASEBALL COMMISSIONER REPORT:

 

ØThe new mound at West Avenue is slippery.  A dirt/clay mixture is to be placed on the mound.

ØBCYAA is not in the Riverfront league.  In order to allow the kids participating in the BCYAA program to play, scrimmages are being planned.  Coaches were asked to contact BCYAA in order to schedule any scrimmages.

ØDistrict tryouts 4/14/13, 9:00 at Logan field in Burlington.

ØGames to begin the first week of April. 

ØT-ball to start at the beginning of April.

 

BASKETBALL COMMISSIONER REPORT:

 

ØNothing to report at this time.

 

SPORTS DIRECTOR REPORT:

 

ØUniforms should be in by the end of the week, Monday the latest.

ØAll the new equipment is in.

ØThe ripped dugout tarp has been repaired and needs to put up prior to opening day

President’s Report:

 

ØDiscussed field fees and meeting with the Recreation Commission for in-kind services.

ØBlackout dates for fields need to be reported to the VP.

 

Vice-President’s report:

 

ØField calendars provided to Rec.

ØPearson and Walnut Street gyms have been booked for the clinics.

ØSoftball and Baseball photos – 5/1/13 at the Walnut Street gym – 5:30 to 9:30.

 

SOFTBALL COMMISSIONER REPORT:

 

Ø  Softball commissioner resignation.

Ø  DYSA board to act as commissioner until a replacement can be found.

Ø  Coaches meeting the first week of March.

Ø  Possible use of the Walnut Street School field for practices.

Ø  Discussion regarding the condition of the fields at Pearson.  Contact John Fenimore. 

 

SOCCER COMMISSIONER REPORT:

 

Ø  Problem with Geese at Pennington FOD fields.

Ø  Shadow dogs recommended as a solution.  This needs to be discussed with Rec. 

Ø  Plans to start an 8U girls travel soccer team for the fall season.

Ø  Indoor practice at the Pearson gym will cease at the end of March.

ØPort-o-pot is needed at all fields.

ØQuestion of what to do with the old soccer nets at Pearson and West Ave.  Possibly sell.

 

BASEBALL COMMISSIONER REPORT:

 

Ø  Blackout dates – 4/12/13 and 5/1/13.

Ø  Coaches meeting 2/26/13. 

Ø  District tryouts 4/14/13.

ØGames to begin the first week of April. 

ØEnd of season 5/18/13.

ØPlayoffs the first week of June.

ØRound Robin the week of 6/10/13. 

ØT-ball to start at the beginning of April.

ØThe coaches are to meet at the clubhouse to go over the rules on 3/11/13.

SOFTBALL COMMISSIONER REPORT:

 

Ø  Ongoing discussions regarding Babe Ruth.

Ø  Ongoing discussion regarding PalRiv to join Riverfront League. 

Ø  10 U pitching change to include Coach relief after 3 walks by pitcher.

Ø  District try outs 3/23/13 or 3/24/13.

Ø  Pitching clinic on Tuesday and Thursday – start date unknown.

 

SOCCER COMMISSIONER REPORT:

 

Ø  Spring season to begin 3/3/13 and run thru 5/19/13.

Ø  Games to be played on Sunday.

Ø  Indoor soccer teams are playing now.

Ø  There are currently 2 boys teams and 1 girls team

ØCommissioner to provide all field dates to the VP. 

 

BASEBALL COMMISSIONER REPORT:

 

Ø  Rule modification to the Rookies pitching machine.  For the first half of the season the pitching machine will be used.  The second half of the season will be kid pitch.

Ø  Two, possibly three games to be set for Opening Day. 

ØBCYAA was a no show for the commissioner meeting. 

ØPractices to begin the middle of March. 

ØT-ball to start at the beginning of April.

 

BASKETBALL COMMISSIONER REPORT:

 

Ø  Season ends 2/16/13.

Ø  Playoffs to begin within 2 weeks of season ending.

 

SPORTS DIRECTOR REPORT:

 

ØRepairs are needed to the pitching mound at West Avenue.

ØThe baseball equipment has been sorted and old, broken equipment will be thrown out.  The estimated replace cost is $800.00.

ØDiscussion about the announcement window and setting up a schedule.   

 

MISC INFO/OPEN FOURM:

 

ØThe board is to meet with some of the Board members from Red to discuss the new Fee Schedule that is due to go in effect for the 2013 season.
