A funeral service was held for Lloyd on January 3, 2008 at the Richview Baptist Church which was attended by his family and friends, including past and present Executive members of Martingrove and other Etobicoke leagues and baseball players that Lloyd has influenced over the years. A lot of memories for all.

Martingrove Baseball would like to acknowledge the passing of long–time volunteer Lloyd Mc Connie. For 30 years Lloyd has dedicated his time and passion for baseball, to the youth of Etobicoke, serving as Coach, Executive member, & Mentor. Lloyd was part of the committee lobbying the city for a diamond at Centennial and in the design of both Carmen Bush and Centennial Field.
Lloyd was not a man seeking praise or accolades, instead preferring to remain in the background. His contribution to us cannot be measured in dollars but in the smiles of our children. This “Selfless” spirit was evident in all he did. Martingrove Baseball would like to dedicate this 50th season, in Lloyd’s memory, to the “Volunteer”; we would not be here without you.
Remember Lloyd by volunteering whatever time you can, and help keep his spirit strong.
