Oak Park Trojans History
The Oak Park Trojans, a division of the Oak Park Youth Athletic Association (OPYAA), is a non-profit organization which is duly registered with the Michigan Department of Commerce. Founded in 1987 by John Johnson Jr. (JJ) and Earnest Foster, the organization operates under its current by-laws within the Southeast Michigan Pop Warner Football League (SEMPWFL) Region.
The organization features a tackle football, cheerleading and dance program within the City of Oak Park and its neighboring communities. We take pride in supporting the Pop Warner program philosophy that athletics and scholastic go hand in hand. We also work toward embracing the youth of the community with the fundamental values of a well-rounded football, cheerleading and dance program. Among these values instilled are teamwork, sportsmanship, dedication, responsibility, respect and friendship. Our system supports social, moral and academic standards. This enhances the character and heightens the development of the remarkable individuals that we see within our community daily.
