TNLL History
Nearly 60 years ago Charles Dwinal with the help of Thomas Walsh Jr, William “Bill” Jocelyn and Franklin Brown started a youth baseball program in the Tilton Northfield area. First, it would be know as CDYA or the Charles Dwinal Youth League then more recently chartered to be an official little league program. This league was created and based on the basics of the sport and the underlying positives attitudes that belong with it.
These men touched the lives of thousands of the area’s youth, many of which are now adults watching their children playing on the same field, just as they did.
This Pines Field was a dream to allow all children to enjoy baseball. Tragically, on September 6, 1997, Charlie Dwinal the man behind the dream perished. With the area towns in mourning over such a great mentor to our youth, the Opening Day Ceremonies in 1998 began with paying tribute to his years of dedication and service by renaming the field in his honor.
TNLL also has honored the other founders. The Concession Stand is named "Tom's Place" is honor of Tom Walsh. The Home Dugout is named for Franklin Brown, and finally, the Visitor Dugout is named for the only remaining founder still with us Bill Joscelyn of Tilton.
TNLL continues the founders’ dreams each year providing the youth of the area a great environment to play baseball. Each year the league improves their program, facilities and games, however maintains the foundation developed nearly 60 years ago.
