Coyotes crowned champions
Samrong _ The Curve Contracting Coyotes are Thai-World Hockey League champions after defeating the DPelican Bar Flyers 5-1 in the playoff final on Sunday. Arthit Thamwongsin was the Coyotes hero, scoring in the first 30 seconds of the game before adding three more picturesque goals. The Thai phenom was unstoppable, using his blazing speed to burn the Flyers defence, and unleashing four perfect shots to the top of the net. The Coyotes also got a power-play marker from Nuchanart Ponglerkdee who fired in a goal from in front of the net after Arthits point shot hit the post and landed on her stick. Goaltender Jason Cotsmire was stellar as he thwarted the Flyers attack time and again. Cotsy finished with 18 saves. The Coyotes defence was impenetrable with big blue liner Michael Crowley and captain Dave Cote fearlessly blocking shots and clearing the zone. Crowley, a former Boston College star, finished with two assists. Flyers captain Michael White scored in the second period after receiving a fine feed from center Guy Black, but the Bang Na Bullies couldnt get it going offensively thereafter. Flyers goalie Warren Rodricks turned in a solid performance finishing with 16 saves. Arthit, who finished third in regular season scoring with 35 points, garnered the TWHL playoff MVP award. He also led the Coyotes past the Q-Car Racers in the semifinal with two goals and an assist. TWHL action resumes in October at Imperial World Samrong arena.

Samrong – The Curve Contracting Coyotes and D’Pelican Inn Flyers advanced to the Thai-World Hockey League championship game after torrid semifinal playoff action on Saturday. The Coyotes outlasted the Q-Car Racers 7-6 in a nail-biter after surrendering a five-goal lead in the third period. The Flyers, meanwhile, beat the Wasabi@Q Leafs 3-0 led by a three-point night from captain Michael White and a perfect game from goalie Warren Rodricks.Reine Rauhala sparked the Coyotes offensively against the Racers scoring a hat-trick and adding three assists. His linemate Jouni Saarteinen added a pair of goals and an assist. Joe Doan led the Racers comeback netting his second goal of the game with 27 seconds remaining. But the Coyotes defense, led by stalwart blue liner Michael Crowley, shut the door for the win. Arthit Thamwongsin sniped a pair for the Dogs. Chaiyasit Tulwathana scored twice and captain Scott Murray and Todd Switzer added singles for the Racers. The Flyers crunched the Leafs in game one as White and his pivot Guy Black rallied offensively. Black blasted a shot five-hole short-handed by netminder Jason Cotsmire in the third period to finish of the Buds. Both of White’s goals were beauties as he utilized his deceptive speed and blazing wrist shot. Racers and Leafs advance to semi-final play-offs
Samrong _ The Q-Car Racers and Wasabi Leafs advanced to the Thai-World Hockey League semi-finals after outgunning their opponents in high-flying play-off action on Sunday. Centre Joe Doan scored a pair of goals for the Racers as they ousted the Halliburton Oilers from the post-season with a 5-1 victory. The Leafs, meanwhile, hammered the Office Bar Bruins 10-4 in the late game led by savvy center Tawin Chartsuwan who scored and added six assists a TWHL record for most points in a play-off game. Doan scored early in game one, utilizing his blazing speed before ripping a shot through the five-hole of Oilers goalie Jason Cotsmire. The Oil replied quickly as captain Scott Lamont unleashed a blistering one-timer past netminder Warren Rodricks. May 18th Flyers grab first place in TWHL regular season
Samrong – The D’Pelican Inn Flyers captured first place in the Thai-World Hockey League regular season after beating the Q-Car Racers 6-3. Captain Michael White and second-line pivot Jason White, no relation, both scored hat-tricks against the Racers to power the Flyers into top spot. The Bangna Bullies finished the season with nine wins and six losses – one point ahead of the Curve Contracting Coyotes. JWhite completed his trick after wheeling and firing the puck past goalie Greg Jones in the second frame. With the Racers pressing in the third period, MWhite silenced the comeback with two quick goals in the game’s late stages. Joe Doan sniped a pair for the third place Racers and defenseman Samrit Meeraphan also scored. Q-Car will face the Halliburton Oilers Sunday at 7:45 p.m. at Imperial World Samrong arena in the quarter-final playoffs. M White won both the scoring and goal-scoring titles. The Flyers leader netted 27 goals and added eight assists in 14 games for 35 points. Arthit Thamwongsin of the Coyotes finished three points behind with 19 goals and 13 assists in 15 games. Meanwhile, the Oilers burned the Coyotes 9-5 in the late game led by the big line of Scott Lamont, Dan Oracheski, and Rick Holdway, who combined for 15 points. Murray potted a pair of goals and added three assists as the Racers fended off the Oilers resilient attack in a frantic scoring display at Imperial World Samrong arena. In the early match-up, the Curve Contracting Coyotes dominated the Office Bar Bruins 8-3 led by speedy set-up man Arthit Thamwongsin who recorded five assists. Dogs captain Dave Cote blasted in a pair of goals, as did third-line winger Nuchanart Ponglerkdee. The Oil’s dynamic duo Dan Oracheski and Rick Holdway were dangerous around the net in game two, both finishing with four points. The Racers call-up defenseman Robert Tokcan was equally dominating, sniping four goals. In the game’s latter stages, Murray took a pass from behind the Oilers net and hammered a snap shot by goaltender Lo Ngeanchai. Samrong _ Hard-nosed veteran Charlie Arnold scored with under a minute to play leading the Q-Car Racers past the Wasabi Leafs 4-3 in Thai-World Hockey League play on Sunday. The Leafs fought their way back in the third period from a 3-1 deficit, tying the game just moments before Arnold netted the game winner. In game two at Imperial World Samrong arena, the Curve Contracting Coyotes blanked the DPelican Inn Flyers 3-0 and moved into first place in the TWHL standings thanks to solid goaltending from Brian Prestia. Despite playing without star center Joe Disney Doan, the Racers sped off the line early in game one as winger Todd Switzer intercepted an errant clearing pass and scored. Joe Lamantia replied for the Leafs before Racers captain Scott Murray broke in alone and sniped home a shot. Arnolds first of the night made it 3-1. High-flying Leafs defenseman Anon Kullugin unleashed a slap shot from the point that found the twine, and Tawin Chartsuwan deflected in a blue line blast to tie it 3-3. But with seconds left to play, Switzer drove hard to the net and rifled a shot. The rebound went to Arnold who roofed it. Meanwhile, the Coyotes were too much for the Flyers to handle, as the Dogs ended the Bang Na Bullies three-game unbeaten streak. Speedster Arthit Thamwongsin picked a Flyer pocket, raced in alone and beat goalie Apichet Suthanyaphruet short side for all the offense the Coyotes would need. Cote finished with a hat-trick in the 7-7 draw as the Coyotes improved to 6-5-1 and moved into a tie with the Office Bar Bruins for second place in the TWHL standings. The Q-Car Racers defeated the Bruins 6-4 in the early game at Imperial World Samrong arena. The Coyotes grabbed an early 2-0 with Swedish sniper Reine Rauhala and Cote finding the back of the net. But the Leafs stormed back with three straight goals as Downtown Dave Lombardi bagged his first of the season, batting an aerial pass from Suwitch Suphong into a wide-open cage. Acting Leafs captain David Blomqvist slammed in a wrap-around and Vanchalerm Rattapong sniped a shot five-hole through Dogs netminder Greg Jones. The game seesawed back and forth with the Leafs twice taking two-goal leads, only to see the resilient Coyotes claw their way back to tie. The hit of the evening was thrown by Buds blueliner Dean Outerson who leveled Rauhala with an open-ice body check. Samrong _ The Halliburton Oilers big guns lit up the scoreboard on Sunday, crushing the Office Bar Bruins 9-4 in Thai-World Hockey League action. The red-hot D’Pelican Inn Flyers, meanwhile, soared past the Wasabi@Q Leafs 5-2 and into first place in the early game at Imperial World Samrong arena. Oil captain Scott Lamont and veteran defenseman Struan Robertson sparked their club past the depleted Bruins lineup, both recording four-point nights. The Brewerkz Brewers defeated the Bangkok Flying Farangs 4-2 to win the 2006 Singapore Ice Hockey Tournament on Saturday. Singapore's goalie Russ Ramos stymied the Farangs shooters time and again as Bangkok's power-play faltered, scoring just once in eight chances at the packed Fuji Ice Palace arena. The defending champion Farangs took the early lead on the power-play with French-Canadian center Dave Cote hammering a slap shot past Ramos. The Brewers were short-handed after Farangs goalie Jason Cotsmire was leveled with a cheap shot during a scrum. But the Farangs couldn't get their power-play going again despite Singapore's endless parade to the penalty box. The Brewers tied the game late in the first period and never looked back. Finnish sniper Jarko Salo sealed Bangkok's fate with a perfect 30-foot wrist shot that bulged the twine in the dying minutes. The Farangs advanced to the final against Singapore after a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory over their Thai-World Hockey League compatriots, the Bangkok Flying Farangs II. Grinder Scott Whitcomb scored three minutes into OT against the Farangs II after digging the puck out of the corner, hustling around the net, and spinning and firing a shot that just trickled in. Farangs II netminder Warren Rodricks was spectacular throughout the tournament, garnering the best goaltender award. Singapore's 12-team, three-day international tourney included Finland's Nokia Ice Devils, the Germany Geronimos, and Abu Dhabi Scorpions, among Asia's usual suspects.

The surging Wasabi Leafs, meanwhile, took down the first place Office Bar Bruins 8-5 at Imperial World Samrong arena, thanks to a pair of hat-tricks from Tawin Chartsuwan and Brent Northbay. It was a goaltenders duel in game one with the Flyers Scott Crosbie and Racers Warren Rodricks dominating between the pipes. The Flyers peppered Rodricks with 27 shots while Crosbie faced 24. Coyotes bite Leafs as Bruins bash Racers
Samrong _ The Office Bar Bruins bounded into first place in the Thai-World Hockey League spearheaded by hard-working center Charlie Arnolds natural hat-trick. The Bruins hammered the Q-Car Racers 7-3 Sunday at Imperial World Samrong arena. The Curve Contracting Coyotes, meanwhile, won their second straight by crunching the Wasabi@Q Leafs 6-2, as Swedish star Reine Rauhala netted three goals and added two assists. The Bruins grinders dominated the Racers at both ends of the ice, with the curmudgeonly Arnold unleashing his heavy shot to score three in row. Strapping winger Ryan Haynes bulged the twine and notched three assists, and Thai sniper Chantapong Tengsakul tallied a pair. Big Bruins blueliner Andrew Pinky Hjelmeland quarterbacked the offense with a four-point night and took care of business in the defensive zone. He scored a beauty on a breakaway, stuffing a backhand five-hole past goalie Jason Cotsmire. The Racers speedster Joe Doan scored twice, set up by wing-man Todd Switzer, and punishing rearguard Colin Macleod blasted in a point shot. Goalie Warren Rodericks was solid in net for the Bs making 28 saves. Cotsmire stopped 22 in defeat. The Bruins record improved to 5-1-1, tops in the TWHL, while the Racers fell to 4-2-1. The resurgent Coyotes pounded the Leafs in the early game and moved into a last-place tie with the Buds at 2-5. Captain Dave Cote continued his torrid scoring pace, teaming up with Rauhala and lightning-quick winger Arthit Thamwongsin, who scored and added three assists. Cote rifled home a one-timer past besieged netminder Brian Prestia for the game winner. The Leafs appeared to have jumped back into the game in the third period, but a controversial call annulled a goal by captain Kevin Dougherty. Defenseman Yingyos Prongkhompoj ripped in a shot from the blueline to round out the Dogs scoring. Prestia, who made his TWHL goaltending debut, was sharp in a 29-save effort, many of the spectacular variety.
