January 2008

HAPPY NEW YEAR

We hope you all had a great Christmas and we wish you and your families the Best for 2008!

If I remember right, I think it was warm enough to play golf last January. Hmmm...Opening Day .... Sunday May 4th... is not that far away

VALENTINE'S DANCE/SILENT AUCTION
FEBRUARY 15TH - BOX GROVE COMMUNITY CENTRE

(From: Allan Grant)
I hope you are all having a great "off" season and I am sure most of you will be starting your dry land training very shortly, in preparation for next season.

I am sure that most, if not all of you, have heard of the hardships that our friend Paul Birdsall has and is going through. Paul was literally fighting for his life because of liver problems and hopefully his transplant will work out.

What has impressed me is the way the MORSL members have rallied to his side and shown their concern. It proves to me that we are more than just a ball league, but we are a large tight knit family that genuinely cares about each other. Paul's illness or any illness is something that can, or might afflict any one us in the future, and it would be nice to know that we have so many friends who will be there for us and show the kind of support that we have shown Paul.

This February 15 we are having a Valentine's Day dance at the Box Grove Community Centre, dedicated to Paul, with proceeds going towards his cause.
We will have a buffet dinner, a DJ spinning music, dancing, a well stocked bar, and even a Silent Auction, enabling you, for example, to pick up items such a trip to one of three thousand resorts worldwide at a fraction of its value. Remember, proceeds will be going to Paul and his cause.

It is going to be a party!! There will be a limited amount of tickets available.
So far it's so nice to see that anyone I have talked to has been quite positive towards the idea and said that they seem to be honored to be able to do something to help out Paul. Again, I think that is the type of league we have and the class of its members.

We will be selling tickets in advance for $30 a person which covers your entrance, and the buffet. Please reserve your tickets by emailing Allan Grant at iagrant@rogers.com.

If you have a Silent Auction Item that you would like to contribute contact Allan, Bill or Bob.
