Thomas Dommel

Tommy began his slow pitch career in 1970 in Montgomery County, playing for Wildwood Exxon, Tom & Ray’s Restaurant, Eagle Iron Works and Clay Equipment.  While playing with the Montgomery County Police team from 1984 – 1988, his team was regularly a top finisher in Police Invitational and National tournaments throughout the United States and Canada.  He received numerous All Tournament Team awards along with three Most Valuable Players awards.  During this period, he also played for John Hanson’s 35+ & 40+ Major Division teams, winning 6 World Championships while he accumulated three more All Tournament Team awards. 

 

Tommy played for GEICO Direct and 35+ Auburn Exxon before beginning his Senior League play with Montgomery Automotive, Fergie’s, Recko and Turn Two.  Since 1997, his teams have won 62 National Championships and 5 Maryland Senior Olympics gold medals.  He has been named to 43 All Tournament teams, won three Most Valuable Defensive Player and 5 Most Valuable Player awards in National Tournament competition.  In 2010, he batted .954 (42 for 44) and received the Most Valuable Player award in the 55+ Senior Softball National Championships in Las Vegas.
