Welcome to the 2009-10 Northwest Austin Youth Basketball Association ("NWAYBA") winter basketball season! My personal goal for my term as President of NWAYBA is to enhance and strengthen our basketball community. Please join me in reaching this goal by spreading the word about our exciting program. As well, if you are interested in sponsoring a team, please download the sponsorship form. We truly appreciate all the families and local businesses that continue to support our league!
This year's registration form is due no later than October 16th. If you miss this deadline, please bring your form to tryouts. On Saturday, Oct. 24th at Murchison MS, Rookies will try out from 12pm-2pm and Juniors from 2pm-4pm. On Sunday, Oct. 25th at Hoop Zone, Seniors will try out from 12pm-2pm, Adv. Seniors from 2-3pm and High School from 3-4pm.
Our Board of Directors continues to strive to provide our NWAYBA youth with a league that balances the development of skills, competition and good old fun. For a list of these board members, please click on our Contact Info on the left handside of our website's main page.
This year the Rookies division will be playing exclusively at schools in the neighborhood. In an effort to build skills in the younger athletes, we will again have our basketball clinics for Juniors and Rookies on Friday nights at neighborhood schools. Keep checking the website for the specific dates. As well, we plan for the Seniors, Juniors and Rookies divisions to hold scrimmages during the Murchison, Lamar, and Anderson regular season basketball games.
We have curtailed the distribution of paper flyers sent home from schools due to several new policies initiated by the schools. Please forward the registration form to your friends and neighbors or direct them to our website www.nwayba.org. Let's spread the word about winter basketball at NWAYBA!!
As always, NWAYBA can not operate without numerous people volunteering their time and efforts to help coach and guide our youth. Besides coaches, we rely on scorekeepers, team parents and organizers, and parents in general to jump in and lend a hand when needed. And, if you are interested in serving on our Board of Directors, we certainly welcome your participation and can find an appropriate position to match your skills and interest.
