Major News Update

BNS CC
News
Apologies for the late update of the site, due to
unforseen circumstances, over the next few days everything will be up and
running as normal again.
Firstly there have been two matches since the last news
update, both against Spring Hill CC, firstly a narrow defeat by 16 runs, but the
we hit back with a stunning victory at home. All scorecards will be up on
here in the next few days as I get the site back up to date.
Other news, and we can confirm that Birmingham New Street
CC has been donated a total of £300 for the season from New Street Welfare
society, so a big thanks to them for their contribution.
More Cancellations Hit The Railwaymen
17/7/07
BNS CC v Central Trains Cov/Express and Star
New streets Fixture list suffered a further dent this
weekend after the cancellation of the game with Central Trains Coventry team due
to a shortage of players. Because of this New Street have been awarded the match
by forfeit.
Further bad news was received today when Express and Star
cancelled the match on August 12th due to a clash with their 20-20 cup
match. There will be a normal practice session now on that Sunday unless
we can get an alternative fixture arranged.
Apologies also for the late posting of the news, this is
because I was away on holiday
Rain Stops Play Against The Saints and
Old Westheathians Cancelled
25/06/07
BNS CC v Four Oaks Saints/Old Westheathians
The weather took another casualty this weekend,
when BNS CC's game against Four Oaks Saints development XI was cancelled.
Attempts are ongoing to re-arrange this game, so
please watch this space for further details regarding that fixture.
Also the match against Old Westheathians on
the 8th July has also been cancelled due to a double booking of their Wast Hills
ground, and efforts to find an alternative ground for the game have proved
unsuccessful. This means there will be a normal training session between
10am-12pm at our Adderley Park training facility.
New Street Beaten by Inspired Spring
Hill
03/06/07
BNS CC v Spring Hill CC
New
Street CC suffered their first defeat of the season, to a well drilled Spring
Hill side.
Batting first on a lifeless wicket, the
railwaymen struggled against an accurate and genuinely pacy onslaught from
Spring Hills bowlers. After a decent start the wickets began to tumble and
helped by some impressive fielding New Street were quickly bowled out for 28 off
13.5 overs, including 4 ducks. Mohammed Riaz top scored with 8 and Spring Hill's
Morgan helped himself to an impressive 6-17
In reply Spring Hill knocked the required runs in
just 5.3 overs for the loss of no wickets. This was a lesson in bowling line and
length on a difficult track, and BNS have to learn from this and bounce back in
their next match, against Four Oaks Saints
BNSCC to Play Development XI
01/06/07
BNS CC v Four Oaks Saints XI
Another
date for your diaries, 24th June New Street Cricket Club will play host to the
Four Oaks Saints Development XI at our Richmond Hill Ground. The match will
start at 2pm so you can all have a bit of a lie in, nurse any hangovers and be
fresh and ready for the match.
The Four Oaks team will consist of a mix of their
up and coming youngsters, eager to play cricket and develop their own respective
skills, and a handful of experienced stalwarts to help guide and nurture them.
I'm sure the game will be a competitive but friendly affair and would like us to
welcome our opponents with our usual BNSCC hospitality.

Snow Hill Clash Falls to Weather
27/05/07
BNS CC v Central Trains Snow Hill
Following
heavy overnight rain, and continued showers this morning, the game between New
Street Cricket Club and local rivals Central Trains Snow Hill has been
cancelled.
The decision to call of the game was taken at 9am
this morning as our Richmond Hill ground was completely unplayable because of
standing water on the wicket.
Although it is disappointing not to be able to
play such an eagerly awaited match, the railwaymen can look forward to the first
of 3 fixtures against Spring Hill, at Richmond Hill next Sunday
It has also been announced that New Street have
been awarded a default win from the cancelled game against Virgin Trains (13th
May).
