Cleveland Mosquitoes Capture 2008 League Title
Titans 2nd Wolves 3rd After Year-long War

August 15th, 2007 - - For the fourth consecutive year, the Northern Ohio League showed why its competition is consistently upgrading and changing for the better by crowning its fourth Champion in as many years! The Garfield Diamonds, Westlake Titans, Cleveland Bruins and Cleveland Mosquitoes top the list of the four championship teams.

This Mosquito team was one which was on a quest to defend its 2006 National Championship as well as try its luck in its third league in three years. To the surprise of many, the league galloped its way to a three horse race between Craig Sieman’s Cleveland Black Wolves, Tim Janos’ Ohio Fightin’ Titans and Ed Konopka’s front runner Cleveland Mosquitoes. When the smoke cleared the Mosquitoes had a 2 game lead on the Titans and were wearing the NOSPBL crown! Congratulations to Ed Konopka and the Cleveland Mosquitoes on their League Championship!

With the Post-seasons of the Cleveland Black Wolves, Cleveland Mosquitoes and Ohio Fightin’ Titans all finished up- the focus now becomes the 2008 season. The Black Wolves went 1-2 at the NABF Regional while the Mosquitoes went 0-2. The Fightin’ Titans finished 3rd at the Buckeye Baseball State Championships with a record of 5-1. All falling short of goals for what was an outstanding 2007 season that just did not come together in post-season play.

2008 will focus on expansion of the Northern Ohio Semi-Professional Baseball League, as the league intends to welcome as many as 5 new teams to the premier league. Once again, as in 2007, the Pipe Yard Stadium with its year long improvements will be a part of the NOSPBL in 2008 and the off-season promotion and time table will allow for more profound usage of the Stadiums many beneficial aspects. One will be more scouting ability on the college and professional level. The league has the pleasure of having a major role of moving the careers of numerous players to higher ranks.
