A Program On The Rise

Tryouts have been announced for the Plainfield Tornadoes 10u and 11u teams.  The 10u tryouts will be on July 9^th at 6pm at Four Seasons Park located at 22500 W. Lockport St. in Plainfield, IL.  The 11u tryouts will be on July 16^th and 17^th at 6pm at Four Seasons Park as well.  The program will also have a 13u team and a 14u team but no tryout dates have been set yet.

To register for tryouts, please email John Mendoza at vp.travel@plainfieldathleticclub.org and give your players name, age group he is trying out for and best 2 positions.  Also, please your cell phone number so that you can be contacted on any date changes or weather related issues.

Tornadoes beat Wheaton Briarcliffe 14-6 to claim the 10u Joey Kledzik Tournament on Memorial Weekend.  Tornadoes have won 12 in a row to go along with 2 tournament championships the past 2 weekends.

Plainfield Tornadoes best the Shock to claim the tournament championship on Sunday. Next up is the Plainfield Joey Kledzik Tournament on Memorial Weekend.

Plainfield Tornadoes will play in the Illinois Travel Baseball League (ILTBL) and the West Suburban Baseball League (WSBL) this summer.  The schedule for the ILTBL is posted online under schedule.  The WSBL schedule should be posted by 3/15/18.  

Plainfield Tornadoes finished a great 2017 Season with a Spring record of 43-8 and a fall record of 3-1-1.  Combined, the Tornadoes finished the 2017 season with 46 wins 9 losses and 1 tie.  Summary of awards won are shown below:

• 2017 Shorewood Tournament Champion
• 2017 Plainfield Patriotic Blast Tournament Champion
• 2017 Joey Kledzik Tournament 2nd place finish

Tornadoes beat Downers Grove last night by a score of 6-5 in Glen Ellyn, IL to capture the 9u WSBL Championship.  It wasn't easy as the Tornadoes trailed 5-2 going into the bottom of the 5th inning.  The inning started with a walk to Ethan D and then a fly out by Drew L.  Dylan B was then walked making it runners on first and second.  Sam B then drove the ball to right center field scoring Ethan D and the Tornadoes then had runners on first and third with one out.  Jayden P then hit an infield single to the 2B scoring Dylan B but then the 2B threw the ball over the 1B head and allowed Jayden to run to second, the 1B then tried to throw out Jayden at 2B but the ball got pass the SS and went into left field allowing Sam B to score from 1B and Jayden then advanced to 3B on the error as well.  This tied the game at 5-5.  Nathaniel O then smacked a line drive to LF which the LF couldn't handle, but he picked up the ball and threw a strike to home plate but on Jayden's slide, the ball came out of the catchers glove and he was called safe to give the Tornadoes at 6-5 lead.  No more runs scored and then it was up to Chase H to get the final 3 outs in the top of 6th and he did the job getting two ground outs and striking out the last hitter to end the game.

The Tornadoes finished WSBL play with a record of 21-0 and won the last 3 playoff games all by 1 run and in comeback fashion.
