Friends for Life is an annual exchange program for our younger players who may not have the skills to be in the spotlight. BAIHA and M&L Hockey of Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Quebec select kids to participate. It is a non-competitive program where hockey actually becomes second to developing lifelong friendships. The 2006 trip to Quebec was the first installment, and it couldn't have gone any better. Many of the kids, and even their families, ended up staying at host family homes for much of the visit. Our trip included a "road trip" by bus with the Mingo McEwen Fund (MMF) hockey team to Shawville, Quebec for their annual charity hockey game against the Flying Elbows. The event raised money for the local paliative care unit. Participants on the MMF team included Canada Bob and Andy Leroux of M&L Hockey, BAIHA coaches Gary O'Neil, Randi Demers, Gene McDonnell, and Rich Wagner, as well as ex-NHLer P.J. Stock. The boys played against the local Shawville youth, too.

For information on this program, see Gary O'Neil.

Here is the group at the final party. Truly friends for life...or as one of our youngsters put it, "not friends for life, family for life".

The kids heard the story of how maple syrup was discovered, told by an Indian storyteller in an actual teepee.
Here the kids made maple syrup popsicles with fresh syrup poured on snow.
Here is the first night "Meet & Greet" gathering.
Here are the kids after one of their games. Trades were made mid-game, so US and Canada kids are all mixed up!
